Noted European travel writers Dana Facaros and Michael Pauls have added another app to their series of Art and Culture city guides which have previously focused on Barcelona and Venice. This time the husband and wife team is off to Bologna and and its little sister city Modena. If you like slow food, fast cars or have a touch for the Baroque, then add Bologna and Modena to your itinerary. The authors have made a smooth transition to the digital world supplying the same style, irreverent commentary, tales and historical perspective that have made them the favorites of iconoclastic travelers who have been guided over the years by their 40 plus printed books and numerous articles in the Sunday Times on the cities and regions in countries touching upon the Mediterranean Sea. I particularly enjoyed a section on Etruscan art. Motor heads will undoubtedly want to check out the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums or the Museo Ducati for those preferring two wheelers. Historians, science buffs, those who appreciate a good cathedral and art aficionados won't be disappointed either. And who doesn't like Italian food. With fascinating historical essays and timelines, beautiful images and photographs, helpful maps, transportation guides and an event calendar, this app can help you plan your trip and provide the background information to ensure you'll enjoy it more for less than the price of a quality espresso or a plate of tagliatelle. And if you're a foodie, or just want to learn more about Italian cuisine, you should check out their Italian Menu Decoder app too.
