Why can’t I have two journals that overlap? Don’t make the app so rigid!
  • Can't use for more than one current bujo

I maintain 4 bullet journals... 1 for work, 1 for personal, 1 for my garden, and 1 for my travel. This app won't let you add journals in your library with overlapping dates.
  • How to use this app?

I just paid 4.99 for this app and there is no FAQ for how to create entries. Just the warning that log items are deleted in 72 hours. Is this because it’s a read only app on the iPad? I have tried every choice on the app and don’t see anywhere to create a journal, take a phone or anything, . I searched help on website and there are only articles that say this app exists. I have to figure out how to get my money back
  • Newest version is a DUD

I’ve had this app for several years now and have loved the simplicity of the layout and functionality for tracking tasks. (Note: i don’t use it as a resource for anything else so i can’t rate that.) There was a recent update to the app which changed everything from the appearance (it went from black background to red/yellow/orange tiedie?!) to the functionality- the task log is no longer default screen when the app opens. Instead there are now daily journaling prompts that load first and i have to navigate toward the log. Very annoying. And the color scheme of the background makes it nearly impossible to read what you’ve written. Who approved this?! I’ll be looking for a substitute asap, or just use the notes app instead.
  • Nov 2023 Update Issue

After the update today I’m not able to add new journals to the library. It freezes during the setup of a new journal when I try to adjust the year on the end date and crashes about a minute later. It also overheats my phone. When I restart and try again it allows me to at least move the year on the end date but freezes right after and crashes again. After playing with it I realized it doesn’t like the year 2017-2018. When I set it up using a more recent year it worked. Then I had to go back in to edit and correct it to 2017-2018. Is there an update for the update? lol. I’m using iPhone 15 Pro Max. This happened on iOS 17.0.2, I updated to 17.1 to test, did the same thing and again to the Beta 17.2. Update: Now when I use the loophole to add older journals I can’t change the date bc I can’t have overlapping dates 🙄 so I change whatever journal has overlapping dates temporarily but then it stops me bc of more overlapping dates and in the end it created two random mystery volumes on its own. My old journal I was changing the dates on is now empty. The contents are now split between the two new mystery volumes and when I try to change the dates and just make it work somehow the whole thing crashes on me when it sees 2018. Ugh!!!! This is so frustrating!

The background is a very annoying bright red which renders the reading of the text quite difficult. I cannot find any area of improvement over version 2.0. The installation of version 2.5 cannot be reversed.
  • Overall Great, a few Minor Drawbacks

Overall I really like the app. It’s simple, easy to use, and works well. The new version has some clutch features like backups and a sample BuJo. I’ve had some problems with the app crashing, overheating my phone, and generally being slow or unresponsive. It seems to want an internet connection, so if I hit my data cap, and get throttled, trying to load the app off Wifi is painful. Disabling cell data for the app seems to be a workaround. Not really sure why it needs connectivity to simply open. Most recently I’ve had issues marking items as migrated or completed. It doesn’t register correctly unless I’m in the reflection screen.
  • Good start, but needs (at least) three improvements

I am relatively new to bullet journaling, but have absolutely loved the process. In its concept, this app seems like an ideal companion. It offers just enough to help me jot down ideas in the moments in which I don’t have my Bullet Journal on me, but not so many features that I start to go to the App before I would go to my journal. This is perfect, in order to help me maintain my focus (on projects, not my phone!), and to keep my current Daily Log page as the primary source of my attention. However, there are, three specific improvements that would bring my rating up to a five star rating: 1. Bring back the widgets on iOS. I’m not sure what happened to them, and, as I look through previous ratings, it looks like people were once able to use widgets in order to directly access the log. This would be perfect. My goal for my phone would be to have my homepage be a single widget that only shows the daily log page of my Bullet Journal. Then, I could click on it, and enter in a new entry, if I need to. Alternatively, it would remind me of any tasks, events, or ideas that I haven’t moved over to my journal. That then becomes my primary task. I’m not sure when, why, or how this feature was removed on the iOS version, but please bring it back! 2. Allow voice dictation of tasks, notes, and ideas. For some reason when I try to use the voice to text feature in this app.(but in no other app.) it doesn’t work. I’m not sure why this is the case, but I suspect it’s a minor bug that needs to be polished out in the coding. Please bring this feature back to the iOS version, so that we can reduce the time that we use our phone, and instead focus on our tasks, and, the paper journal. 3. Export scanned journals into searchable PDFs. The ability to rapidly, and electronically search through previous bullet journals for specific text or entries was one of the reasons why I purchased this app. It would be incredibly helpful to have a function that exports all images as a PDF. If the app itself created an OCR formatted file that allowed for text searches, that would be even better. But at the very least, simply exporting a PDF, made up of all the journal images, would be a great starting point. I could then use another PDF annotation app to format it for object and character recognition. Again, this app has great potential, and I am hopeful that the makers will respond to some of the minor edits to make this app truly a remarkable companion. Thank you.
  • Really needs flexibility and font changes

This app needs work or retirement. I am an avid BuJo user and I even belong to the BuJo U community. This app needs 2 things at the top of my list: - flexibility for exporting (in a batch or even page by page) to a common format like PDF. My pages are trapped in a proprietary format. - increase in font size and/or sans serif style. The type is hard to read, and I’m not even old yet. I use this app as a digital archive of my paper notebooks, for when I can’t or don’t want to go find the right notebook physically. I don’t find it comfortable to use every day for logs.
  • I’d rate more if there was iPad support

I guess I just expected more. I was really hoping it had real iPad support, but when you open it on an iPad it’s just the tiny phone view. I’m going to return it and see if I can find a more suitable solution.
