  • A cash sinkhole and a ruined franchise

tldr: this game costs over $40 a month just to play and crashes or has bugs at least once a week. Look at the other reviews. I’ve played this game for over 2 and a half years and I can safely say it has never been free to play or even “freemium”, but in the last 6 months it has become a PAID game. And I don’t mean $5 a month: the current format of the game has TWO different monthly passes for two different sections of the game. To give you context before I break this down, certain parts of the game can be played and advanced on your own for free, the most basic story mode. However, supplies in the game are handed out daily and weekly based on your ranking against either A) a group of players who started the game around the same time as you, or B) every player in the world. Many characters are released that can only be unlocked by being in the top tier of players IN THE WORLD. New players and free to play players cannot get these characters. Ever. And yet, the characters are needed to access certain game modes or contests for prizes, so not being one of the top 500 players in the world means you do not get to play every part of the game or even access some of your favorite characters ever. So, these 2 passes give you supplies to level up the characters you have and sometimes to just-barely unlock one of the newest characters for new game modes and to stay competitive with the players you’re ranked against. Each pass costs $20 to unlock, and while it can be played “free”ly, the rewards (which are not bonus, they are NEEDED to not just advance in the game but to keep up) are locked about 40% free and the other 60% cost $20. Paying the $40 for both of these passes, after I’ve played the game for just shy of 1,000 days (the game keeps track for you), still has me getting the global rewards for being in the bottom 50% of players in the world. Which, as you might guess, is not a lot of rewards to level my characters up. They release new characters for $25 or $50 a couple of times a month ON TOP OF asking for $40 on two passes for bare-minimum rewards just to not be in last place and not be able to do anything in the game. Adding insult to injury, for the price of a full PS4 game every month (which adds up to about $500 a year minimum), the game has frequent crashes and glitches, and just two days ago went down for 8 hours because of “an erroneous inbox message” it sent to the players. This game is set to make A BILLION DOLLARS this year and they can’t create something that even works correctly when you’re paying $60 a month or more just to struggle to enjoy your favorite Marvel characters... if you can even unlock them. It’s a joke and at this point, the ONLY reason I play it is because I’m in a team with friends I’ve made over the last year and don’t want to lose contact. It’s not fun, it’s expensive, and it’s disrespectful. Do not download this game, do not play it, do not get sucked into the thinking I have, where I’ve spent close to $1500 to play a free game and I’m too stubborn to quit on my investment, even though I still can’t access any top-tier rewards.
  • New players beware!

If your thinking about starting to play this game just don’t. You are better off looking for something else. It’s not the game that’s even the problem. The game is actually pretty fun. But the developer Scopley is just trash. There have been so many bugs in this game.... and this last one was just so bad, I had to come write a review. I never write these! Basically the bug broke the game for a brief period and if your like me and many other players that pulled something super rare in this brief Period.... you lost it! Even if you got it without exploiting their bugs or anything! And to cap that off they just do not care about the player base and making it right. Seems to be profit above all else. The customer service just sends the same old generic responses and does nothing.

I played every single day for over 1000 days and since scopely took over I watched bug after bug and paywall after paywall infest this game. ITS HORRIBLE
  • Needs Substantial TLC

I’ve been playing for 9 months (on iOS) - every day - hours a day - never letting energy go uncollected/unused. My Alliance is active and fairly well coordinated. My current progress would be considered mid-game. After a few months of free-to-play, I’ve become a moderate spender $25-$40 a month to try to catch up to other F2P Alliance members who started a few weeks before me. Spending, at this level, has not produced a noticeable advantage and I have yet to close the gap. Since the beginning of this year, the game has had all kinds of quality-control issues including bugs, emergency maintenance, typos, combat anomalies, crashes, confusing offers and poor player-vs-player match-ups. The game is in need of substantial, tender, loving care. The game is mostly a ‘resource collection’ game requiring logging in every few hours to collect items and make incremental progress. Resource bottle-necks are a real thing and take longer to overcome as the game progresses. Of all of the battles played in my week, 80%+ are done by auto-battling or “sim”ing. Many game modes (Blitz, Real Time Arena, Raids) have become chores rather than fun. I’m going back to F2P. I’ve spent enough on this game. Playing with my Alliance/friends, seeing the new characters and my sunken cost make it worth the effort to continue but I doubt I’ll ever have as much fun as my first 90 days. If you’re OK with being a casual, F2P player and dig Marvel, this game might be for you. If you get frustrated easily, I’d pass. Oops! I’m already late for this hour’s MSF chores! Bye!
  • Update?

    By james19Y80
Play this game a lot, but I haven’t been able to play in the last few days because the loading screen doesn’t go past 14%. Can you fix this please? It does it either on WiFi or data, so it’s not anything with my phone
  • Fun but buggy

    By Dudeguy6900
The game is a lot of fun but very buggy. They seem to have issues releasing patches without creating more problems. It’s been almost a year since they ha w released anything that wasn’t bugged.
  • Character Issues

I’m so sick of building teams for Scopely to then go in and change their stats so they aren’t as good and then taking new characters and making them unbeatable. Match ups are stupid. Should be an easy victory and then you somehow lose cause Scopely decided to adjust characters again. Good times.
  • Up and Down

Today, I am leaving this game. While it has been fun, there are too many bugs and game crashes. The final straw has been broken from me. I have spent money in this game, which now, I regret. I will be playing another mobile game in this place; one that cares about their game and fixes their bugs before adding new content (just for money). Peace out.

Game not work will not load
  • Great gameplay but terrible bugs & lack of dev concern

    By Kingcharlesthe33
Title says it all, love the game but am constantly discouraged by daily new bugs & glitches that hurt the playing experience and simply make things not fun.
