I ordered via this Apple Store the premium version of MalwareBytes. You can see for yourself, by scrolling down on the description, that it advertises you can share the app with up to six family members. Wrong! After I set it up on my own iPhone, I then moved on to set up the share with family member feature. I could find absolutely nothing to do the setup. After spending a couple hours searching other MalwareBytes sites and Apple, and then going WWW and tried finding some instructions. Then, I found an elusive notation in a MB help site that informed the user that Apple does not allow Premium MalwareBytes to share with other users. Sorry, MB, but I think this is tainted and needs to be boldly stated BEFORE an unsuspecting person clicks the “BUY” button and has to go through hours of research to find the truth.

The app claims to block unwanted calls and texts from telemarketers, spammers, scammers, and the like, but in actuality half the numbers I’ve reported have been unblocked and are still able to get through. Been a loyal MB customer for years, but this app isn’t that. This is crap!! Initially contacted support and they seemed confused and gave me a generic response. Made certain all my settings were all right and convinced myself it was because it was still the free version, but now that half my blocked numbers have been removed I’m simply done and moving on. I can pay Verizon to block numbers and not have to worry that it will be done or fear giving up any more info to 3rd parties I don’t want. Meanwhile, I now get more unwanted calls than I did before I installed this app!! Maybe that will change when I uninstall it in 3-2-1...

Update 10/8- The text filtering stinks not working. It has blocked a text from a business I had contacted that was not in my contact list, but continues to let dozens of actual spam text through. Original- I get tons of text and spam calls that I have been blocking manually. Decided to test out the free version with the spam filter on the text to see if it was worth the upgrade. The only text it has filtered was a contact with a new number. All of the unwanted text come through as normal. If the filter improves I will consider an upgrade in the future, but for now it doesn’t seem worth having it on my phone.

The one thing that works well is the call filter, having a warning appear under the phone number stating the call is probably a scam is wonderful. The text message filtering feature does not work. Whenever I get spam texts they just show up in my main inbox. Reporting a number as spam is also buried, it should be right on the home page. It is also incredibly annoying that you have to manually open the app and pull the updated database down. Really feels like this is something that should just get pushed once a day.
