Description

ASK US ABOUT OUR PILOT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS! The future of reading and playing music starts with a game. Welcome to version 2.0 ! "I've never seen anything like it. My students love it and are really excited to practice!" - Ryan H., Band Director-Olinda Elementary Professional trumpet player, Los Angeles "The Dallas Winds has used MMR at our summer band camp and the kids loved it. Their reading improved remarkably over just a week. I spent a long time testing it before we used it and enjoyed it immensely. Good self directed learning. High level of engagement makes you want to get to the next level" Todd Toney Director of Education, Dallas Winds Features: +Interactive musical notation practicing game that uses the iPhone's mic to pick up live instrumental or vocal input. +Score page that provides immediate accuracy feedback +Curriculum that trains rhythm and intervals in a systematic way +Scrolling score trains eyes to read ahead and encourages "not stopping" +Options to mail/share your score +Video lessons from the pros +Leader Boards to compete with fiends +Rhythm generator for infinite practicing options +Expanding library of books and beats The Monster Musician Reader, the world's first interactive game that targets and builds the skills necessary for successful music reading. The musician plays her or his instrument or sings directly into the app and gets evaluated on their performance in real-time. Really though, it's just a game. As creator and pro-musician, Noelle Fabian puts it, "Imagine if your sheet music and the video game "Guitar Hero" had a baby. It's epic." Based on sight reading and language research, specifically designed curriculum familiarizes the player with different rhythmic combinations and intervals. Backing grooves provide the player with a beat while music scrolls across the screen. Great for musical speed-reading. For an extra challenge- pick a tricky key! The goal is to "feed" our friend "Hangry Jim" your right notes as you go. You are then awarded a score from Jim based upon your performance. Don't like your score? Play it again! The app itself and the first few books are no charge. Additional books can be purchased in the "music store". Some basic music knowledge/ability is recommended when starting to play as this is a supplement to other forms of instrumental practice. Using headphones also helps with increased accuracy. While the app can be played by any person or instrument able to sustain a pitch, we currently have the app optimized for woodwinds and brass instruments. Our current, yet ever-increasing, optimized instrument list: # Voice (bass clef, treble clef) # Concert pitch: Treble Clef - good for piano, mallet, or string instruments # Concert pitch: Bass Clef- good for piano, mallet, or string instruments * Recorder * Piccolo * Flute * Oboe * Clarinet * Bass Clarinet * Alto Sax * Tenor Sax * Bari Sax * Bassoon _ Trumpet _ French Horn _ Trombone _ Euphonium _ Tuba % Violin % Viola % Cello % Bass % Guitar ^ Bell Kit ^ Xylophone ^ Piano We love working with school band, choir and orchestra and programs! Email us if you wish for your music program to be considered for our pilot program.

There should be more modern songs in this app to make people want to play this app.

I am a professional musician and I can’t get more than 50% on rhythm when singing, even on the easiest setting. There must be something wrong with the calibration. I wouldn’t share this with my students because it would be frustrating for them to play or sing something perfectly but get bad feedback. Great interface and accompaniments though, and I love the inclusion of a lesson at the top of each book.
  • A great rhythm method!

I’m a trombonist and use this app with my students. I like to assign it as a lesson supplement for them to use during the week to help with reading and the results have been great. Nightly recommend

This is the best and most engaging music reader app I have encountered! So many levels to fit every student’s needs and truly fun! We will be sending information on this music reader app to all of our young musicians. I highly recommend this one. Michelle Joseph Orman Executive Director Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestras

I've been looking for an app for my band students that is similar to Piano Maestros but for band/orchestra instruments! Here it is! This makes learning an instrument fun by combining a method book progression, smartmusic listening, and rock band style points! I think this app can go far in meeting the needs of beginner band students anywhere!

So far I like using with students a ton. Range is an issue. For instance, trombone book 2 d minor should not be below the staff. Haven’t checked out other instruments but keep making improvements and corrections. I would love to use it even more!

I wish this app could hear my mandolin:-( rooks like a fun way to practice site reading for learning a new instrument. It could detect that I was playing but not the notes.

This is a great resource for music educators or casual instrumentalists looking to improve their reading skills! The interface is super clean, accuracy of assessment is good (great with headphones!), the backing tracks make playing through the levels so much more fun than a simple metronome or clock track! An awesome app for young musicians!
