  • Love everything other than that it doesn’t work ☹️

I really enjoyed this app initially- the interface, the fact that my husband and I both had access, the details about each account, etc. But after a few months, we realized there are significant glitches with syncing accounts. At first I didn’t think much of it, but then it was happening so frequently and over time, one of our accounts (a local credit union AND all Chase accounts) completely stopped syncing. Customer service was helpful in investigating and said it was an issue with the PFA for that bank. I decided to try out a different finance mgmt app and found that there were no issues with syncing in that account. Due to the frequency of the errors and the fact that our checking account shows absolutely no transactions anymore, we’re going to have to leave. I would come back if and when this gets fixed, but for now I cannot recommend it unfortunately.
  • Incredibly Powerful, Removes Nearly All Guesswork

I’ve been looking for a personal financial budgeting app for years, and I have to say, Monarch does everything I want and need. All my credit cards, my bank account, and investment accounts (including my 401K) are all in one convenient place, regularly updated. On top of that, instead of being asked what I want to budget for each category, Monarch presents an average for what I’ve been spending based on my imported data, and I can adjust accordingly from there. Even the visuals for what I bring in and what I’ve spent is very helpful. I can’t tell you how anxious I’ve been over my finances for years now, and this app has single-handedly helped me shed a lot of that anxiety. My only suggestion for a feature is to be able to enter quarterly or annual budget amounts (for things like taxes or HOA fees), and let the app figure out what that equates to on a monthly basis (and perhaps automatically make it a roll-over budget instead of having to manually it). When my free trial ends, I will absolutely become a paid subscriber.
  • Connectivity issues continue

I’m in for the long haul with Monarch. But. I still have to constantly check my institutions directly bc of connectivity issues. Still no support so have to rely on this review to hopefully get attention to this matter. Daily I’m receiving notices that monarch has disconnected with my primary bank. I rely on this app to keep all my institutions updated but it’s just not happening. Monarch will blame the institutions. Not to bring up a now defunct Mint, but I never had to constantly check accuracy & connectivity with mint. It is what it is I guess. But seriously annoying.
  • Best app to focus on long term goals

Replaced mint for me. Good UI. Integrations to accounts never break. Allows me to focus on net worth. Cant comment on it as a budgeting tool. Handle scenario planning in a spreadsheet. Assume this product will get to a point where I can ditch that one day
  • LONG delay in fixing an issue with an account

Switched to Monarch following Mint’s departure. Was pleased at first. Have had an issue with one account not updating for almost a month. I have contacted support, tried all of their suggested fixes, and supplied them with needed info to fix the updating issue. It has been 25 days and I keep getting the same response from support, “we have not received information from out data supporter on how to fix this issue”. For a paid app, I am very disappointed in the length of time to fix a minor connection issue. The free Mint App would have had this resolved by now.
  • Good app, missing some essential features, and kinda of pricey.

Enjoy the overall use of the app, it was easy setting up my accounts. There are some key features I wish it did have, in the Recurring section, the upcoming bills for credits do not show up. Something that was essentially in Mint. The value of the vehicle assets aren't being auto-adjusted either.
  • Missing connection points

Almost a good replacement for Mint but lacked all my financial connections.
  • Google Sheets is still more powerful

This is nice for the average person, but for someone like me who needs to write trends or recipes into my financial plan, this service does not provide. Apple Numbers and Google Sheets are still much more capable and they will probably be forever until an AI app comes along.
  • Best Mint replacement

Coming out of Mint, I’ve tested a few apps, and Monarch has been the best regarding account integrations, net worth mgmt, and transaction search/updates. There are some minor bugs with the budget, but hoping they keep improving the platform.
