Description

There are a lot of running apps out there, but they all have something in common: they are either full of ads, are highly expensive or simply are and look very outdated. Out-Run tries to solve this with a clean and modern look and being 100% free. In addition to that Out-Run is also one of the few running apps that do not require you to create an account, all information is stored locally and thereby protected from any data leaks or privacy scandals. And if you think: "Where is the catch?" - there is none, you can even have a look at the source code and confirm everything being said here, because Out-Run is fully open-source (source-code: https://github.com/timfraedrich/OutRun ). # MAJOR FEATURES - Keep full control over your data - Record your outdoor workouts (Running, Walking, Hiking, Cycling and Skating) - View detailed statistics - Export your workouts as GPX or OutRun-Backup (.orbup) - Fully customise the recording process - Synchronise with Apple Health I hope you love Out-Run just as much as I loved making it and if you find anything I should improve upon, please let me know. Tim, the developer.

  • Almost perfect, but…

I previously gave this app a 5-star review for being an easy-to-use and privacy-respecting fitness tracker. Generally speaking, it does what it should well and with a slick interface to boot. However, I just had the app crash on me while saving the results of a 10-hour hike through the mountains. I ended up losing the recording so I was pretty bummed. Looking at other reviews, it seems this isn’t a completely one-off occurrence. So, as much as I love the app and what it stands for in the midst of the pseudo-social media platforms that mainstream fitness trackers, I’ll likely be switching back to Strava myself to avoid running the risk of losing another big hike or run.
  • EXCELLENT private running tracking!

Finally thankful to have my data to myself and myself alone. The breakdown of runs is way better than the Workouts in the Apple Activity app. However, I was looking for something to show aggregate over time. - All runs over a week, month, or all time - Show best times, pace, highest altitude gain, all time etc. Would pay for this to support app development! Thank you for making this!!
  • Fantastic but…

The import from health can be kind of bad. Otherwise it’s a fantastic app, it’s clean & simple and would easily be a 5 if the imports get fixed
  • All you need in a running app without all the data poaching!

  • Why does the app keeps refreshing ?

As soon as I change to some other apps in order to change music or check mails, the app will reset. It loses all the data. Next thing I know the app has stopped recording my miles.
  • Seems to crash if you do anything else

Seems to crash the app if you do anything else while tracking a workout. Several times now I’ve been on a walk and will open my phone to take a picture or use an app and when I get home to save the workout there isn’t one being tracked any more.
  • just what i needed

Only saves my workouts half the time, so I’m deleting it. (It is very pretty).

I was looking for a privacy-friendly activity tracker, and this app is perfect! It’s very clean and elegant. Thank you for this.
  • Does not access Apple iOS health data

Despite me going into every menu I can find including Apple‘s iOS health data and enabling all access for this app it shows there’s nothing to import and there’s no data in the app. Pretty disappointed in this app.
