I enjoy quite a range of shows on Wondery and always know I can find something new. I definitely get value from my subscription.

The content is phenomenal but the app is slow and clunky. Especially when you compare it with the Apple Podcast app.

Guess I didn’t realize that this was just for Wondery shows? Don’t download this if you’re looking for a general podcast app. Searched for about five of my favorite shows and none of them are offered here.
  • Just too difficult

I just find this difficult to use compared to others. Now it is crashing several seconds into my show. Il a Wondery+ subscriber but I'll likely let it go due to issues with the app. That's pretty much the only way I listen.
  • Great Content, Meh App

I have been a big fan of Wondery content for some time. I have listened to them across multiple platforms. I downloaded the app, because I was interested in the ad free option. The podcasts themselves are top notch. I especially love that all the true crime is easy to filter down to, using the Exhibit C tab. The downside is that there are no playlists, no way to filter out played episodes from shows, and if you get a phone call, the app does not retain your player. By the time you hang up, you have to go back in, reload the Home Screen, and find your show again. That can get frustrating. I can appreciate a basic, streamlined user interface, but not when it lacks adequate user functions. I’m currently debating if I want to keep using it for the ad free, or just go back to a third party app that has better player options.
  • Crashes Often

I have used this app for a year now, but recently it has started glitching. It randomly stops playing podcasts and routinely erases my downloaded episodes library. Please fix the app.
  • App needs A LOT of work

Good show options. But I purchased a one-year subscription through iTunes before using the app, which was a huge mistake. Here are a few of the reoccurring issues I've been dealing with: 1) the app freezes almost every time I open it; I have to close it and reopen it to get it to function; 2) it jumps ahead in an episode; for example, I may stop listening 15 minutes in to a 45-minute episode, but the next time I come back to it, the episode starts up at a point beyond the 15-minute mark where I stopped it; 3) not only will it skip ahead in an episode but it will skip through the remainder of an episode and ahead to the next episode that I haven't started; and sometimes it will start that episode somewhere beyond the beginning; 4) the full list of "Previously Listened Episodes" does not load when I scroll down within some shows; it makes it difficult to make sure it didn't skip any episodes in their entirety (see item 3) - sometimes I will stop listening to an episode with just a few minutes left but when I come back to finish the episode, it will appear as if I've finished that episode and is starting me with the next episode; I want to find the episode that still had a few minutes but I can't find it because the full list of episodes does not load! And a new issue has popped up: I’ll finish an episode but the next time I go to that show, it appears as if I’m only halfway through an episode I know I finished. I feel like this app is gaslighting me! I have tried deleting and re-installing the app a couple of times. It doesn't seem to fix these issues. Most of the time, I end up going back to Apple Podcasts to listen to the Wondery shows simply because I'm tired of dealing with the Wondery app, which is a complete waste of the subscription I paid for. It's very frustrating how other apps can be lightyears ahead; this app seems like it's still at the Beta-level (or lower) of development. I sent this feedback to Wondery and the response I received was basically “our tech department is continuing to work at improving the app.” I do not plan to renew this subscription when it expires unless Wondery makes some serious strides to improve their app.
  • Good Content, Terrible App

This app crashed constantly while I was using it. Since I generally listen to podcasts while doing other things or driving this was especially annoying. There are also a lot of basic features missing that Wondery’s product team should’ve considered for an MVP. For example, you can download but cannot queue multiple episodes, so you have to pick them one at a time. The app is also extremely slow to load from startup, and sometimes does not load at all. Truthfully I am doing back to Spotify because I do not think this service is worth the price, but I am disappointed because a zero ads podcast was appealing.
  • Content is fantastic, app is a decade past update

Podcast subject and hosts are top notch. The app crashes, is not intuitive, doesn’t use any modern ui or navigation features, menus are hard to close. Tried installing and reinstalling many times, not that would fix a ui being a decade outdated.
  • Wondery has achieved the impossible

They’ve created an app that has dozens of wildly successful examples and somehow managed to completely botch it. Podcast apps are a dime a dozen. Doing a podcast app “right” is dead simple because you just have to copy what everyone else has done. Wondery didn’t even do that right. The app constantly crashes. Starting to play a podcast episode takes 30+ seconds sometimes because they force a check with their servers before letting you play anything. The app will just randomly pause for no reason in the middle of an episode. 10% of the time, you’ll load the app to find it entirely unresponsive. Siri hasn’t been configured to take voice commands for the app. How? How is it possible to botch something so simple so horribly? The only reason I stick around and very reluctantly continue to pay them for this abomination is because they have a couple of excellent podcasts that I can’t get anywhere else. Yes, Morbid (and its early releases on Wondery+) is one of them. The other is Killer Psyche. Their podcasts are incredible, but this app is probably the worst that I’m forced to use on a regular basis.
