A bit disappointed because I had seen an ad for the app and I haven’t even been able to use the app, as it crashes immediately upon opening. I reinstalled it and everything but it still crashes. I’m seeing all these positive reviews and makes me wonder if they faked these reviews 🙃

I’d love the app, it helps me a lot, but I would love it if they put the amount of calories and a category of healty dishes

Another app where you have to pay to use. Main reason for one star is how they word the questions & answers, it’s like they want you to fail. Here’s a question & answer from the app “experienced sushi eaters mix a bit of wasabi in with their soy sauce because…” answer: “they don’t know what they’re doing.” There’s many questions and answers set up like this, like they want you to fail so the only way to level up is to buy into the app to have more options. Good idea of an app but poorly executed.

I just cooked my first meal and it was a hit! I still had issues with some things, like my own distractibility. But, I think this will help my major cooking anxiety and I’ve already learned some helpful basics. The detailed shopping list with substitutions was so great. And the simplicity! Every step was broken down and there were several tiny how-to videos covering nearly every little question and insecurity I had as I cooked. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the subscription.

I got this app a while back. Very upset that everything is locked now if you don’t pay for a subscription. I understood having some locked because you have to make money, but the fact that even simple mac and cheese is locked is wild. Even Duolingo has free options.

I love this app so much, I never really enjoyed cooking before because i found it confusing and stressful but this app has made me want to cook dinner every night. The nights that I don’t have time to cook dinner genuinely make me sad and even more excited for when I can cook my next meal. This app taught me how to cook my first chicken, steak, and fish. I used to stay clear of cooking any protein because I thought it would be really hard and I’d accidentally make my self sick but this app has really changed my life!
  • Great to learn the basics- not the tastiest recipes

The app does a really good job of teaching the basics of what makes a meal really taste good, and the core principles of each part of the cooking process. Its really funny too, my favorite quote being “Water will never outgrow you or ‘need more space’ Water will be right there, boiling away at 212°F” Stuff like that makes key points really memorable. I enjoy using the app to learn. My only complaint is the options for dishes. Most of them just do not appeal to me. I was expecting to learn more traditional and i suppose for a lack of better words, universally liked meals. Some of choices are really good, like the chimmichuri steak, garlic shrimp scampi, and candied sweet potato fries were really good but… a lot of dishes appeared to be on the blander side of the things. The chicken dishes look unlike what im used to seeing in terms of color. I just opt to season as i please, as the app encourages. I wanted to make a good mac and cheese, the options were disappointing. Im figuring the app aims to make the user learn healthier dishes and choices which is REALLY COOL dont get me wrong. But i want to make meals my entire family will enjoy. The way im using the app now is to learn principles and techniques, and then using this newfound knowledge to make the meals my family will enjoy using youtube videos. Ive gotten really good in a short amount of time. Baked mac and cheese, wings, ribs, burgers, steaks, salmon. I might be good enough by November to be able to throw my hat in the ring for thanksgiving.
