  • Unfortunate Business Model Changes

It would be difficult to fully express my disappointment in the recent updates to Photoshop Express, but I’ll lay out my main grievances: First and foremost, the inability to save edited images at highest quality in the free version flies in the face of Photoshop’s purpose, which is to enhance and improve photographs. This coercive tactic to force people to subscribe or lose quality essentially reduces the free PE app to a toy — every edit becomes a destructive edit, every output a degraded one. Second, the paywalling of basic tools makes the app little better than the built-in photo editor that came with my iPhone. Useful daily functions like separating subject from background are now gated behind a subscription. What’s left is maddeningly basic. I once considered Express a useful tool to enhance my photos on the fly, but the recent changes to subscriber-only features downgrades its usefulness significantly. I already have the full desktop version of Photoshop, I’ll return to using that to edit my work — like I did back in 2015 — rather than use this new, regressive version of the app for any image editing I’m serious about.

  • This app is useless without the option to edit every element in a theme

This app has potential to be the be best graphic design app in the AppStore, but unfortunately in its current state it’s basically useless because it doesn’t give you the option to edit every element in a theme, and make it your own. You should be able to add your own images as colors for all elements in a theme. Also selective editing option doesn’t give you the option to use your own images for colors, so this severely limits this app for serious graphic designers. For example: In the past we had the option to change the sky color using our own images, but that option is now gone. At this point if you’re a graphic designer you should not install or invest your money in this app, because it does not have the features that are need to create unique designs. I’ve reached out to the developers dozens of times telling them about this, but they never listen and add these features. It seems as if they don’t want to have a great app. Until this developer adds the features that I requested, then as a serious graphic designer you’re better off installing Bazaart. It atleast has the options for using your own images in all elements in their themes. (Edit): I just wanted to let you know that the link you sent me to request a new feature is not working. Also I’ve reached out to you multiple times in the past regarding a glitch in your app that offers a free trial for your yearly plan, but actually charges instead giving a free trial. I’ve reached out to you requesting a refund so that I can purchase your monthly plan after you add the features that I requested. The way your app is currently constructed I can do what I need to do for my design work, so I will resubscribe once you add the features I requested. Also allowing us to use our own images for your “one tap theme” option needs to be added as well. Please get back to me as soon as possible regarding my refund request, thanks.

I’ve enjoyed using Ps for several years, but I’m not happy that features which were previously available to me are now unavailable and reserved for Premium subscribers.

They made the old app crash all the time so you have to move on to the new worsened version. Can’t even do a simple cut in a picture without paying $99. “Gee, just look for some different app” Sure will do.

I’m used to having to pay insane amounts in fees to use the features that Adobe Photoshop Express has for free, I’m really happy with how it works, as well as ease of access. Thanks, Adobe for making my life better!
