  • Washington Post App

    By A Loyal Post Subscriber
I subscribe to the Washington Post, which is a wonderful newspaper. I would like to give the app a 5-star rating because the content provided by the app is easy to access and timely. However, I also find that the app eats the battery in both my iPhone and my iPad. I can lose 20 percent or more of my battery charge in both devices with just one pass through the news topics provided by the app. I don’t understand what the app is doing, but it is much harder on batteries than the Washington Post feed in the News app.

  • Love the Post, hate the app!

This is an incredibly buggy app! After I've been reading for a while, it slows down significantly and weird things start to happen. I can’t scroll down. The story shakes. The story keeps blanking out and trying to re-load itself. I love the content enough to pay for it, but I really wish the app was smoother.
  • Easy to Navigate

Vital to our democracy! The WP performs a critical function in exposing the truth to our citizenship that it may make the right decisions as a basic element of our democracy. J. R. Perez-Polo, Ph.D. Univ. Texas Medical Branch

A great news journal without bias
  • Generally a good app, but it's invading our privacy!

Discovered something very disturbing about the app. Many of the stories are not contained within the app, but go the Washington Post website When that happens, cookies from Facebook, Google, etc. show up inside of Safari and can track you! That's a violation of our privacy. I did not subscribe to the Post to have my browsing monitored. I will investigate further, but I’m guessing that the app itself has Facebook and Google SKDs inside of it, too, which means tracking is going on within the app, too. On a purely practical level, the stories that the app loads from the website are in a smaller font size, meaning they are harder to read, and the app's settings don't control their appearance. It makes for a visually inconsistent experience. Very poor design. Please fix this and lose the cookies and 3rd party tracking.
  • Constantly asking me to sign in

I’m a digital subscriber. I’ve been using the old blue app for iPad, but because it was changed to Select, I downloaded Classic, which includes all stories. I’m unable to use it. Constantly asks me to sign in, kicks me over to the WaPo website to sign in, then every time I go to read a story, it logs me out and asks me to subscribe or sign in. Unusable and frustrating.
  • Expensive

    It worth price any longer.
  • Great content, one VERY annoying. Flaw

    By Derwin12345
Great content, and the app is laid out cleanly. But gah, the “sign in with Touch ID” button is right next to the “Purchase new Subscription with Touch ID” button. It doesn’t even check that my email is an existing customer. I’ve had to go and cancel these second subscriptions multiple times. PLEASE FIX!!!!!
