Description

Literary Analysis Guide is a reference tool for students of literature, rhetoric, and writing. The elements of literature are arranged around three clickable interface wheels. Touch any term on the wheels for a detailed definition, examples from literature, questions to ask, and an example essay paragraph which analyzes that term. Students can also reference an illustrated version of each analysis paragraph which highlights the topic sentence, textual evidence, and analysis portions of text. Twelve of the most commonly used figures of speech are presented around a fourth wheel, and students can look up less common literary devices in a full glossary of literary terms. In an expanded section on meaning, students can reference the proper sequence of literary analysis, patterns of paragraph development, and common elements found within successful literary analysis essays. Literary Analysis Guide has helped students visualize how the elements of literature develop style and meaning since the beginning of the smartphone revolution. Now with illustrated example paragraphs for all major terms, users can see literary devices at work within properly written analyses. Also, with a full glossary of literary terms, students can now search for the meaning of more esoteric literary concepts including a broadened selection of figures of speech, poetic forms, dramatic forms, tropes, schemes, techniques, and various forms of literary criticism. Whether preparing for the Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature exam or composing a graduate-level thesis, this app will help you on your way. Literary Analysis Guide was developed by a college English professor with extensive secondary experience and is appropriate for all levels from secondary through university-level academics. **Literary Analysis Guide was featured in iPhone Life Magazine among the best apps for back to school.** ***Literary Analysis Guide was featured by AppPicker among the highest value apps.***

I love the idea of this app considering I'm in AP English. I believe this would be a perfect studying app BUT it lacks a lot of details. Most of the definitions are quick descriptions and most of the vocabulary terms in here lack examples, detail, and etc which is provided in a few of the terms. Please update this app with more information!:) Overall this app is worth the money to get a quick look through to freshen up your mind or if you don't need to completely understand the terms.

I am running iOS 8.4 on an iPad Air. Your app, Literary Analysis Guide, keeps freezing. I have the paid version. Please fix.

“Lit Analysis 2” is a reference guide for understanding the various elements of literature in poetry, prose, rhetoric and other related literary devices such as figures of speech. The app includes definitions, examples, paragraphs that show examples of analysis of poems that express those literary devices, as well as important questions to ask yourself when analysing a work in regards to the particular literature device. The app’s content is very comprehensive to the point that it would be useful for a literature analyst from the basics learned in middle and high school through college. Not only does it have visual representation for the big broad concepts, but it has a glossary full of very precise and obscure terms. Some of the terms could use more examples as most are limited to only two or three. In a few cases there is one, or even no examples, but those are rare. The content also seems to be aimed at late high school and beyond, which could make it pretty dense for younger students. It would be nice if they had some examples from texts that were easier for younger students to grasp. Having them alongside higher level examples might help with scaffolding as well. The app is very useable, with a simple interface. The major terms are arrayed in a wheel shape around the central concept, which can help users visualize how the terms all contribute to the central concept. Once the user clicks on a concept they are taken to a fairly plain but well organized page with text under headings that can be collapsed and expanded. Its simplicity helps it run fairly smooth, and it would be difficult to be lost in the app. The appearance of the app is very plain, which makes everything easy to read and see, but it also makes the experience a bit dull and lifeless. It is very clearly an academic tool, and it does nothing to give a more stylish or appealing experience while using the app. I could easily see this app being used by students in writing and literature classes of all kinds using it to both analyse and produce literature. In many ways it does a good job of replacing many of the literature handbooks that would otherwise be the go-to tool. For ease and clarity of use and content alone, this would be a great app for student use in the classroom. I do wish, however, that it would be more appealing to younger students, with some text and examples aimed at their level. I give this app 4.5 stars. It is excellent, with some room for improvement.

I recommend this app to my high-school seniors with confidence in its reliability. The examples of devices and prose treatment of literary ideas are especially helpful.

I use it for homeschooling. Makes it easy to come up with discussion questions for any type of literature. I could also see it being useful for high school and up to prepare for a discussion or to brainstorm essay ideas. The graphic design could use a little help. I found a theme I liked, but some of the color schemes are just awful.

Never used to use this app. I thought it was a waste of money. Got updated and now I use it for my English class all the time. Especially useful that it does not need Internet connection
