  • Can’t save pdf

For years I’ve easily downloaded and the enewspaper as a pdf that I can read offline anywhere anytime, such as on an airplane. Now after supposedly downloading the pdf, the option to save it in Acrobat does not appear. It shows an option to save the pdf in Books, but tapping that button does nothing. At this point, the crucial functionality of the app for me is entirely gone.

I thought the previous app was weak. Your new app is simply awful for the reader!!! I’m likely finally to cancel my subscription. Your content is no longer fair and balanced, and your app is the pits ... worst I’ve ever seen. Come on Trib...
  • Oh no! No longer a newspaper

I’m disappointed with version 5. I experienced it on one device and found that it had become almost all photos at the expense of text. When I went to a different device, which had not yet been updated, i was happy to find my regular digital newspaper still intact. I enjoyed that format. We live in rural IL, west of Chicago where physical delivery of the paper is not available. (Currently subscribing to the CT, NYT, and off/on, from WP.) Version 5 reminds me of the similar and unfortunate changes CNN.com made a couple/few years ago. Maybe a targeting of younger readers? I don’t know..., but why must we see larger photos?! And read less?! Plus I found, as mentioned by another, that a number of articles didn’t seem to be in v5 that I later found in the paper formatted in the older style. I’m not sure that I can or that I want to get used to v5. I stopped visiting CNN after their similar changes. 16-year reader of CT Update: Since my 1-star review above, that if I select “Digital Edition” in my daily electronic delivery, I am able to read the Chi Tribune in the newspaper layout, which I much prefer over, what I’m calling the “click-1-picture-at-a-time” layout. As long as I’m able to access this format, I’m happy. Raising my review two stars to three; still concerned about losing the format and direction of the changes.
  • How To View E-copy of Full Paper?

I always went to the function to view as a real paper page by page. I cannot see how to do this anymore. Very disappointed.

I wrote a one star review of this app a while back as it was nearly unusable. Articles would not open, links were broken, and the search feature was useless. I thought it only fair to update that review in light of the tribunes efforts in updating their app. They have done a really nice job. The app is smoother, every article that you tap on opens, and the links to other articles and information seem to work. A minor complaint is that the ads are a bit intrusive and take up a lot of physical space. However, they do not cover up the content like they used to in the past, so I suppose that is a win. All in all a major improvement and far superior to their past product. Thank you, Tribune!
  • If you like “Ads”

This version is better than the previous version but that is really not saying much! I prefer the digital edition of the newspaper. This is why I subscribe. I can get it on the go and enlarge the paper for easier viewing. Unfortunately, access to the “eNewspaper” is buried under two levels. Navigation to the “eNewspaper” is not easy or intuitive. The eNewspaper is still bloated with ads. There are pages of ads that are not in the real paper and ads that pop up (reducing viewing space).
  • Can’t Go Directly to Bears Articles

Recent updates don’t allow you to drill into articles for a specific sports team like the Bears. You instead have to read through all sports articles to locate the specific ones you want

I used the previous tribune app to read my digital newspaper. The new version took this away. Why? Why is this more difficult to locate?
