  • Irritating user interface issues which make security harder

I have multiple devices: 2012 Mac Pro, 2017 MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 8, and obviously I need to keep my accounts & passwords synchronized between all of these. However, I REFUSE to put passwords (even “encrypted”) into anyone else’s hands, e.g. into 1Password’s subscription “cloud” storage/sync service. I might consider it if they would accept all incidental and consequential damages I might suffer from a breach on their part, but betcha the EULA doesn’t offer such assurances with their company’s cash at direct risk. So I “sync on WLAN” (WiFi) which means on the iDevices diving four or five menus deep to sync with my Mac Pro when I’m at home. Problem: last two versions of 1Password have a bug on iOS: can’t back out of WLAN sync after it is completed - must force-quit the app. This is a BUG. At least Mac-to-iOS device sync is offered and mostly works - Mac-to-Mac sync support is not offered over a LAN at all, other than by manually exporting the “.pif” file (in the clear!) and moving it back & forth. When I ask 1Password product managers about this, they’re explicit: they’re never going to do this. Why? I’d guess because they want to flog their subscription “cloud” password storage/sync service. Irritated by this pressure to compromise my security in service of their pecuniary interests? You bet I am. Next iOS user interface problem, which might also be partly Apple’s fault: iOS recently opened up for third party password managers to auto-fill account/password combinations into apps. Yay. But you have to type your 1Password vault password for EVERY access - the “obvious” (but insecure) work-around: make my password to my vault simpler, shorter, easier to type. Better solution: 1Password leaves the vault open for [user determined period of time, or until iDevice next locks]. Other than these irritations, 1Password is a pretty good password manager, and these days with all the accounts and identities we all have to manage, it is better to use a password manager like 1Password than it is to do something foolish like re-using passwords, or using simple, non-random ones.

Recently moved to the Family Plan and can’t recommend it enough. Watch Tower feature monitoring for known compromised accounts and websites is an absolute necessity today in age.
  • No phone support

Hard to set up. And no phone support. Can't imagine what will happen if I actually used this app and had a problem. No one to talk to, just email.

They don’t tell you that it’s only a one month free trial. Your going to have to cough up some serious bucks.
  • So far only 1 issue and that is a miracle with iOS apps .

Maybe I am confused but I was hopping that the sync feature would pull all iCloud passwords into 1 pass but it looks like it’s the other way around . Under items it’s 0 and I have nearly 200 iCloud passwords . Aside from this it’s great you have just about full control of all settings and It integrates into the iOS just like the keychain so it’s on every log in .

This is a garbage app. It’s secure, but incredibly not user friendly. I’m not a moron. I’m a software engineer, amount other things and this is absolutely garbage.
