  • Great Lessons But Unreliable

    By Lee in Utah
I have all three levels of this course and I'm currently half way through the intermediate portion. When I first started with the Spanish course, everything went really well. The app worked perfectly and I was able to breeze through the beginner level without any problems. Then I started doing the intermediate level and everything changed. Suddenly every time they did an update I would have glitches in the program. If I touched the microphone button to repeat a phrase, I would get thrown out of the program and have to get back in, find where I was at and try again...usually resulting in the same thing happening over and over again. If this only happened after one update, I would say "oh well, that was bad" and I wouldn't be complaining right now, but every time that they've updated the intermediate portion of it, this happens and since I need something portable, I end up having to go into a free app called Duolingo to keep studying until Rocket Spanish gets around to fixing it again. This not only slowed down my learning rate, but has also frustrated me to the point where I begin to lose interest in the program itself. I ask myself, if I have to get onto Duolingo (which is free) so much to continue my Spanish studies, then wouldn't it had been smarter to just start off with the Duolingo and not waste hundreds of dollars on a program that only works right intermittently. I've emailed Rocket Spanish about the problem each time they do an update, but they always tell me to delete the app and reload it. This has never helped and I still have to use my Duolingo until they eventually get around to fixing the glitch again. Besides this problem, there's been others as well, for example, after the last change you can't see what you're typing because the response block is blocked by the keyboard when you're entering your response. Also the voice recognition stops working right on any response that had numbers in it. And at this point the help line that they say they offer had quit working as well, because there's a problem with my internet address. I don't know if these are just a problems for people using Apple phones, or if it's happening with Android users as well. They've told me to just use my desktop until they get things fixed, but I bought this program because I need something that is portable. This program has a good format, and the content is pretty good (there's a couple of places with sentences being cut off or you can hear people talking in the background) and overall, it would be a great program if they could permanently eliminate the RECURRING glitches. I would probably have more tolerance for these problems if this was a free program, but I paid several hundred dollars for what I thought was going to be a quality product. Duolingo is free and runs smoother on my iPhone, so I can study without all the distractions that come with this program.
  • Another broken update

Seriously can you roll out an update that doesn't break the app? Every other update something breaks and it takes weeks to repair
  • Doesn't even recognize paid account

I'm a long time user of Rocket Languages (since 2012) and have purchased multiple language modules (French 1-3, German 1-3, Spanish 2-3, Portuguese) over the years and this app has always been a disappointment and continues to be. Initially, it wouldn't sync my progress with what was done on a computer, then it worked briefly, but was not at all user friendly for iOS, and now with this version, I can't even log in (and yes, account and password are correct). When I try the app reset password link, it goes to a dead page. Useless app.
  • Wonderful app and program!

    By Percy11357
I absolutely love both this app and the program! The app’s layout is very self-explanatory and easy to use! It’s also very good for language learning, honestly one of the best out there. I’m learning French using this app, and it’s very useful, as there aren’t any French classes in my area. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn another language.
  • What I was missing

    By Kokokitty
I have been learning Spanish for 4 years. In those four years I have amassed a large vocabulary, but was not able to put that vocabulary into sentences to clearly be understood. I’ve been using this app for 2 weeks and I’m feeling more confident in speaking because this app teaches you how to communicate with sentences. When I first downloaded the app, I was able to use the mic and role play play with the characters. Since the latest update, that feature no longer works, and the ‘write it’ section won’t allow me to see what I’m typing. Those two issues made me give it a four star rating. It’s a hassle for me to wait till I’m home to use my computer for the lessons. Hoping this will be fixed soon.
  • Crashes on iPad Pro

    By swartz48
I just started using the program and it works fine on my MacBook and on my Galaxy Tab S4, but on the iPad it crashes and closes as soon as I try to use the microphone. I really like what I am seeing so far but would prefer to use the iPad as my primary device. Please fix this!

App freezes when you try to practice being a part of the conversation. This is the new version and it just started to happen. Needs another fix!
  • Great French course but...

    By elbita
...the app has a sound bug that is very annoying! If you play your class then go out of the app and come back to either continue playing the class you were in or play another class, there will be no sound. I constantly have to reboot my iphone (turn it completely off then on) then go back into the app in order for the sound to work. I also have had sound issues just playing different parts of a class. The sound will be barely audible, then suddenly it will be at a higher, normal range, then go back down. Pain in the you know what! All that being said, I like the courses very much! I would’ve given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the annoying sound issue!
  • Very Buggy App

    By Penitent Jeff
I do like the Rocket Languages learning method. I own all three levels of the Spanish product, and the lessons are very good. There is a lot of opportunity for listening, speaking, and repetition. Unfortunately, the app is extremely buggy. I have had countless issues with speech recognition, with force closing, and with my progress not being tracked. I contacted support via email about the most pressing issue, and they did not respond at all. I could not recommend this app or this company. I’ll try to work with it for another couple of weeks, but if it hasn’t improved I’m going to request a refund. The language learning space is too competitive to tolerate this for long. I hope the developer is listening because this could really be a great product if it was more reliable and they were more responsive.
