  • Didn’t work, didn’t give me what was promised, difficult to use

    I went to the movie: the card didn’t work. I ended up paying twice as much for the movie because there is no refund policy for Moviepass subscriptions. I was sent an offer to get a free movie ticket with my subscription. I made the account expecting to get that, and never did. My card was charged anyway. The app is unintuitive and not very functional. Customer service is unhelpful. I tried deleting my account using the “delete account” only to be told that my account could not be deleted for record-keeping purposes. Don’t bother wasting you time or money
  • Waste of Time and Money

    As many of the other reviews have said, this is a waste of time and money. With the cheapest plan, you can only see one movie per month. You can only buy tickets the same day, the app is super clunky to use and it’s just not worth it. I wish I would have listened to the other one star reviews before I subscribed.

    Movie Pass is a scam. I tried it for about 6 months, but it rarely worked. I’m lucky if we saw 3 movies. It took 3 days to get customer service to reply, when they replied at all. By then, I had paid for the movie. I finally canceled my subscription, and they continued to charge my credit card. I had to dispute the charges to get rid of it. I would not recommend this app.

    I pay this membership every month. I don’t use this every month. At first points were supposed to roll over so I didn’t mind. At some point it he points stopped rolling over so I guess I decided to keep it anyway. The issue is that I have tried using it twice in the last 2 months and both times the card didn’t go through. Customer service did not helped. My recommendation based on my experience is that no one should pay for this garbage.

    First, the digital card is useless unless you’re going to use extra credits to purchase tickets online. They do not automatically send you a physical card. Its only useful if you’re willing to pay more than the cost of the ticket in credits. Second, if you unsubscribe you will lose all of the credits you’ve paid for. Overall a waste of money. I didn't use it even once because there were too many obstacles.
  • You cannot use this app to see multiple movies in a single day.

    There are some things that are unadvertised before you purchase a membership. You can only see one movie a day, you can only reserve a ticket the day of, and you can only make reservations using the app. There is no search function in the app. There's a page with a limited amount of movies which you can press on to see different show times and there is a list of theaters in your area which you can scroll through. I'm in NYC so there are 30 or so theaters on this list which I search through, somehow they are not listed alphabetically. It's not a very good user interface and it's not outfitted to help you shop around for a movie. It is cost effective if you go to a lot of movies but if you intend on going to a screening that will sell out this is not the way to purchase your ticket. I do feel like I've saved around $40 in a month going to 4 movies.

    When this first came out years and years ago it was great. You could see 1 movie per day for $10 a month. But this obviously isn’t a strong business model and they went under after a bit. A couple years ago they came back and you could pay $10 for 30ish credits, which would get you one prime time movie or 2-3 movies during the weekdays. Now every movie is over 26 credits so you can see one movie a month which is pretty much what a normal ticket costs anyway. If you are serious about going to the movies to see everything like me, I recommend getting whatever your favorite theatre subscription is. ie: starlights pass or AMC pass.
  • UPDATES DON’T WORK

    Latest update, 2.5, and the update to fix it, 2.5.1, have totally messed MoviePass up. Up until last Thursday, I easily used it several times during each cycle. Since the updates, it doesn’t show options to purchase for some movies and has reverted to an earlier version to choose seats in the app. When meeting friends, it’s better to choose tickets in the theater, together. That’s no longer available. I’d also like to be able to choose a movie that is playing. Now, some movies are available, others are not. I will be cancelling if it isn’t fixed soon. There’s no need to pay for something I can’t use.
