  • App does not load consistently

I had a premium subscription to study Japanese with this app a few years ago and it was quite good. I decided to use it again and I am very frustrated by how buggy it is. It doesn’t load the lessons properly half the time. The content is good but it’s not accessible, which is very frustrating.

App stopped working about a week ago. I’m paying for a premium subscription, but none of the content in the app loads. I can access lessons via the website, but the app itself does not work at all. Tried reinstalling, restarting, etc. Hoping there will be an update that addresses this. If not, I will be canceling my subscription.
  • App for Finnish lacks useful content

There is too much English in the lesson videos and very little of the target language (Finnish). The app touts having having a "vast" library of learning materials, but there is actually very little on grammar, and what there is only scratches the surface of a given topic, such as verbs. Conclusion is that the app will not get one very far in learning Finnish. It might be better for other languages, but I can't say.
  • App only freezes.

  • Immersive learning is the most effective way!

I believe immersive learning is the most effective way to learn any new language. The way this app has you listening to actual conversations right off the bat and builds upon previous learning with new is unmatched. When you’re in another country it’s difficult to keep up with the native speakers, but this app trains your ears to pick up the language as you learn. My kids and I use Duolingo as well because it keeps them engaged. However I prefer this method as an auditory learner. I have leaned more Italian in the past month than I ever have. Molto bene!

Thank you for offering so much of this informative content for free. I will be buying Premium Plus once I finish the free introductory workbook. All of you who worked on this language learning program / app are awesome, and I’m very grateful to you!
  • Finally found the right one

I’ve downloaded so many apps, paid for so many apps, bought a lifetime subscription to Rosetta Stone, and purchased a year’s subscription of Pimsleur before I came across this. This is the first thing that actually has me learning to speak Korean. I ended up getting a Premium + membership after trying out the Premium for $1. I was speaking and understanding from the first lesson - is learning a new language still work? Of course. But this has been the most effective thing I have tried. A caveat - during my struggle to find the right tools to help me learn Korean, I did come across a couple good apps that taught me how to write and read the korean consonants, vowels, and several syllable blocks. That has been a really good foundation now that I found this. If you are learning Korean, I would 100% recommend skipping Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur and choosing this app instead. I would, though, recommend getting an app or two that teaches you to read/pronounce and write the alphabet to lay a foundation for using this app. You can find good ones that are either free with ads or pretty cheap if you want the ad-free experience. I have a long ways to go, but I am finally on my way there. The lesson pathways that are provided take away the time and effort needed to figure out what you should learn - you can just focus on actually learning to speak your new language!
  • Freezes and Crashes Constantly

This app works OK the first time you open it after downloading. The next time you try to use it, it either freezes as soon as you click on a lesson or works for a minute or so and then crashes. The only solution is to delete it, then download it again and start all over. It has been like this for months now, through multiple updates, and the developer is evidently unable or unwilling to correct the problem(s). Most likely it's the latter; the content hasn't been updated for many years, so it looks like at this point this is somebody's low-maintenance passive revenue stream – in fact, I'm beginning to wonder if the only reason they issue updates at all is to clear the slate on negative reviews. In any case, if you're interested in learning a language, you should look elsewhere! (If you're wondering, the only reason I'm still attempting to use this terrible app is that I stupidly purchased a two-year membership, and the app stopped working about nine months in.)

Never had issues before but recently every time I select an audio lesson to play the wheel just spins. I tried offlining the audio files - same thing. Tried deleting and reinstalling, tried restoring purchases. Nothing. The app is dead. Have to cancel my sub. Dont know what they did!!
