  • Still the best podcast app out there

    The redesign was a happy surprise for me. Turned the app on one morning and there was color everywhere. I really like the new look. The features that came with it are very welcome, too. Overcast is a stellar app, and this redesign is no different.

  • Starts great but becomes unbearably slow

    Overcast is pretty great, but if you’re a power user with a lot of subscriptions or downloads, this app slows to a crawl. It will take several seconds to open, and each button push will take several more seconds. If you don’t believe me, search for “overcast slow” and you’ll find tons of other people in the same situation. The only solution I’ve found is to delete the app and start over. Which stinks because sometimes I have older episodes that are local only.

    This app lets me sort a podcast’s backlog from oldest to newest. For that alone, it’s a massive improvement over the apple app.

    Easiest to navigate. Create custom playlists. Control. Finding a new podcast! Hands down the only podcast player I use. I’ve stop listening to podcasts that don’t use this player.

    This review was simple and easy to write. Overcast is as simple and easy to use podcast app as you can find. Very organized, playback modes are self explanatory, a totally intuitive layout (would like the timer access to be a bit bigger). I’ve shown a number of non-computer literate people, who have always wanted to listen to podcasts, Overcast and it took them a full minute to catch on and get hooked. What more is there to say.
