About 5 years ago when I first used Hopper, it was great. Some of the best customer service ever. Shout out to the one who helped me for hours in the middle of the night when I was in Singapore and my layover flight got canceled because of a blizzard in the states. Also I took the last train there so I was stuck in the airport all night until I could get on the next train to leave. But Hopper eased a lot of my stress and made it a seamless experience. I got home without any unnecessary hiccups, all things considered, because of them. Also the app was so straight forward and easy to use. I really liked it. That’s why I kept it in the back of my pocket for so many years. I especially liked the trip watching service. Well now Hopper is riddled with so much extra stuff! To the point that I don’t want to use it! Maybe it’s great for people who want all that. But I just want flights man. I feel like I have to dig through so much hoopla just to get back to the flight watching option and book a flight. And now when you want to book a flight, you get asked a bajillon questions that all sound very similar and comes off as scammy. Like why are there like 5 questions about all the different insurances I can get when it could be bundled or asked in one question. But each question has a fancy title and worded slightly different but generally asks the same thing when you think about it. Comes off as a marketing ploy. Also when I researched if some of these add ons were worth it, all I found was that they are usually more headache to cash them in than they are worth and there are hidden rules in the fine print that they don’t fully disclose up front (typical). The app just feels so cluttered nowadays and I’m not here for it. I may still use hopper in the future. Maybe. But I have a much more enjoyable experience using Kayak than Hopper nowadays when Hopper back in (what I would consider their hay day) was my go to. So just an FYI if yer considering downloading this app. Be prepared for a lot of hoopla, triple check everything, read the fine print, and be on guard.
