  • Doesn’t work

It asks me what city I am in, so I type it, London, and it doesn’t work (no results). So I type several cities in America, still nothing. I type in Dubai, Tokyo, Rome, Paris and more and still “no results.” It’s sad because this looks like a good app

At first I thought I was imagining things, but I tested it with a few specific restaurants and monitored whether or not they disappeared over time. A bunch of my restaurants are gone from my map, which defeats the entire purpose of the app. switching to Beli.
  • Cannot Edit Off Road Locations

Love the app but even after several exchanges with developer still cannot edit locations that do not have an address which are the majority of my 1k locations (waterfalls, trailheads, kayaking river access points) …
  • I found it confusing to decline entering my phone number

I found the interface very confusing when I tried to skip entering my phone number. After a bad review and multiple developer follow ups, I finally found how to skip it. I still think it should be more clear. Update: My one star review is because of the interface regarding entering my phone number which I found to be confusing. The screen has a blue circle with a white phone at the top and a big empty field which says “What’s your phone number?” and way down at the bottom of the screen it says “Show My Friends” This interface is bad because in the previous screens I was asked for my preferences, and I was asked to share my contacts, which I declined. These screens had a very helpful “Later” button which gave me a clear way to skip. But this last screen that asks for phone number did NOT have a “Later” button. So it switched interface paradigms near the end of the process after setting up my expectation that I could skip with a “Later” button. So I assumed if I tapped “Show My Friends” it would tell me the phone number field was required. I am the user. I found it confusing. I am entitled to give a one star review for an app that I found hard to use. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. I might reconsider if they make the screen more clear and add a “Later” or a “Skip” button to that phone number screen. Otherwise, my review is one star and I gave it because in my opinion the interface of the app was confusing to me when I wanted to skip entering my phone number. Also, since I did not share my contacts or enter my phone number, it makes no sense to have a button labeled “Show My Friends.” My intention was to use this app as a way to bookmark cool places I have been. Nothing to do with friends. Which again, think about how confusing the interface is: I did not share contacts or enter a number, and now the only button I was given was “Show My Friends.” It makes no sense. Especially as a new user, I am expecting a “Show the Map” button or something like that. As I said: I found this interface to be confusing.

I absolutely love the idea of this app, I’ve had it for awhile but every time I try to open it I have to “reconnect” it to my Facebook account and 75% of the time it just won’t reconnect and I can’t pull up my maps. So many bugs that need to be fixed that have been occurring over the last 5+ months.

I absolutely love mapstr whenever I have a day off I love to go explore news places right in my own backyard! Or if I am coincidentally in the area of a place I’ve marked I always try to make a stop, thanks to alerts that you can set. I could rave Al day about the customization of this app truly but, I did come here to say 2 things, one, that I wish there was a function where you could pin something and it would recommend you others like it or things others near that location have pinned! I think it would be a great addition because sometimes place really are hidden. Two maybe having a toggle function where you could see reviews for the place you’ve pinned if you wanted. I love having my own personal map but sometimes for places I haven’t been a review would be helpful. I understand that’s what the internet is for but having it streamlined into one place is just a little more convenient. I love this app with all my heart and regardless of what I think I will continue to use it forever :)
  • Great concept but glitchy

The app logs me off and tries to get me to establish a new account every time I open it. No one has the time for that, no matter how useful a new app may be and even if they love the concept…

I just want to say that you guys did a great job with this app. For several years now I’ve been keeping everything in my notes, but this is clearly superior. I have one improvement that can be made since I saw another app do it. I like the tags feature, but you can make it so that we can modify the order that they are shown in on our list? I think it would be nice for aesthetic purposes. Because that way my tags can all be in the same order down the list without me having to delete and re add them in order every time.

I’ve been using Mapster for a number of years. I travel a lot for business and I would store restaurants and other places for reference for when I’m on a trip and seek a restaurant or tourist spot I have saved in the area. It is probably user error but as the app has evolved, my ability to find saved items where I’m at, or search for places I’ve stored, but don’t recall exactly what they are called, has become an exercise in frustration for me. I really liked it as a reference library of my places, I’m not really interested in the social media aspects.
