  • Paid services is a scam

    I was trying to figure out how to file a 1099. I didn’t know how, so I went through the paid services. The person I was speaking with refused to help me file my 1099 and told me to do it myself. I went through the expensive plan, she only directed me to try to submit my taxes without completing my forms. I asked why and her response was was because I needed to complete my tax return so that she can help me. It just seems like she only wanted the money/ revenue for her benefit. I disconnected the call right after that and I will never be returning to TurboTax.

  • Wouldn’t refund me after they couldn’t do taxes

    I am married to a disabled veteran, and we had certain text, deductibles and situations that pertain to us that would allow us to file our taxes correctly, and TurboTax could not accommodate to that. it had us in the negative in which I couldn’t understand why no one would give me a reason why. So I ended up taking our Taxes to Accountant, who got us squared away. I had paid for a TurboTax services, but they would not refund me my money, even though I did not file my taxes with them because they could not accommodate to our particular situation so yes, I give them a -1 star, if you are a disabled veteran or any kind of military personnel. I would not file my taxes with them. If you have a specific special needs or situation that pertains to you, they do not keep up with the current regulations and laws in my point of view for our situation, so use at your own risk. I see why people got messed up with TurboTax, because of how it can be to file your taxes if you have a specific situation going on with you or multiple specific situation like we had.

    They ask you about 15 times to upgrade from free and then charge you anyways then deny any refund off the very ironic “Satisfaction Guarantee.” Scum of a company. 5+ years of using them and this is the last. 0 stars

    This product is innately a scam you can do everything for free now on IRS website. Also the IRS doesn’t use dark pattern UI to try to scam you into CreditKarma upsells and giving your banking info and transaction history to third parties.

  • Free Edition isn’t Free

    This year for the second time now, TurboTax told me I could not use the Free Edition. They claim I have tax breaks that I wouldn’t get if I stuck to the Free Edition and would only receive if I upgraded to Deluxe. And they simply refused to allow me to stay with the Free Edition. Sounds good to have a couple hundred dollars in my pocket. Except, that every time I upgrade to deluxe, they always charge me the amount of the tax breaks if not more. Hundreds of dollars lost - all so I could get tax breaks I never received, and an upgrade I never wanted but was forced by TurboTax into purchasing. At this price, it’s cheaper and much less overwhelming to have an accountant do taxes for me, instead of these thieves!

    Did the free service and still charged me 129 never told me for what thought I was paying for what I owe irs and at the end it tells me I’m paying for a credit karma offer I don’t even know what that is and don’t need it and refused to refund me

    They have this button on the bottom right of the screen for if you need help. They do not warn you that you will be charged $120 for a 2 second question if you click that button. The only way to reverse it is to delete everything and start over??????? What a waste of time. I’m sick of TurboTax screwing me over.

    I paid for my federal and state taxes with the $29.99 thinking they will e-file my returns. No way did TurboTax do that. I have to print the files and mail it myself. And if I did want them to print and mail you need to upgrade to $89.99. I had no refund or needed to pay for taxes on my federal but I will have a refund for my state. And TurboTax still won’t e-file my state. Such a waste of time. Also before you sign off for your taxes you need to sign up for Idnotify which has a monthly payment and will be taken out of your credit card that you paid TurboTax when you thought they would efile your taxes and told you after you paid that you have to print and mail myself. I do t have a printer!! Such a waste of my time and my monies. Also they tell me I need to get a refund from this app. How do I do that. The links they gave me was not for the TurboTax app. Fake advertising!! I don’t get why TurboTax does this to legit customers.
