  • Choppy viewing with frequent buffering problems

    I’ve had this app for a couple years now and have used it over multiple platforms. Primarily PlayStation 4, Amazon Fire Tablet, and IPhone. It has streamed flawlessly. Up until this past summer when I’ve started running into loading problems. I’ll get a few minutes into a movie or show and it will start buffering sometimes for 5 minutes at a time. It’s a recurring issue cycling between periods of long buffering. I’ve also attempted to use this app over several different WiFi networks, checking my bandwidth, and making sure to keep the app is up to date and it’s always the same problem. I have no issues with other streaming services but the HBONOW app refuses to work well. Not sure if their servers are overloaded with traffic slowing down the stream but I’m ready to cancel my subscription unless this problem is remedied soon. Your mileage may very, but judging from the plethora of negative reviews of this app I doubt it.

    Even after the latest update the app still doesn’t support the new iPad 11inch . Why does it take that long to fix a simple issue like this one ? The latest update supports the old screen dimensions which leave lots of wasted space , black edges .
  • Not Chromecast Compatible

    I have been an HBO Now user for over a year, but recently I have been unable to cast episodes to my toshiba chromecast tv. After spending over an hour and a half talking to HBO and Google staff I was finally told by HBO that they no longer support chromecast. I found this confusing (as the app had been working properly for over a year) and incredibly frustrating (because the HBO website give explicit chromecast casting directions, yet doesn’t say anything about the fact that chromecast isn’t supported by HBO). If you are going to pay for this service you should know whether or not you’ll actually be able to use it. I’m disappointed that this has changed and I’ll be canceling my subscription.

  • Terrible Apple TV app support

    On my Apple TV, when I go into the TV app and try to resume watching an episode it loads up the HBO Now app, plays their vain “HBO Now” tag (as if I didn’t know), and then RESTARTS THE EPISODE FROM THE BEGINNING. EVERY. TIME. I canceled Netflix because they won’t support the TV app. I will cancel HBO if they can’t fix their support for it. In 2018 there is no need for me to have to go peruse all of my streaming services individually, and frankly I just won’t do it. Fix the app.
  • Non-intuitive screens, app crashes frequently

    I downloaded the iOS app for a weekend and watched a series. The poor UI/UX design made it very clunky to use. The app also crashed frequently and did not remember where I stopped/crashed last time, making it painful to continue to watch. Finally I decided to cancel the subscription for now, hard to justify paying for such bad service.
  • Can’t even watch a show

    Every single time I try to watch a show, it buffers like every few minutes without fail. It’s not my internet either, it’s the app. It’s so frustrating when you pay good money for a subscription to HBO but the app won’t even let you enjoy it.

    My favorite subscription channel, by far. I only have one little request. Please, please, please change the font used in your program descriptions when they are selected. The font is so thin, it’s impossible to read across the room on my large screen TV. It isn’t that the font is too small. Just too THIN. I don’t have this problem with ANY of my other TV apps. It’s a little maddening. Like. Hmm. “Rampage...” wonder what that’s about? Well I have to Google it because HBO NOW’s font is too thin to read! LOL.

    Everything I wanted to watch wasn’t updated or no good movies and I deleted the app 4 days before my free week was up and it’s still trying to charge me for downloading this app
