Such a great little app. Personally I was fine with the original mobile Reddit and still am but after hearing a friend suggest bacon reader, I was interested because you don’t often come across clients for apps. Especially apps that are extremely customizable and work great like the Reddit app. After some research, however, I found Apollo. You may think that the paywall for premium is excessive but it really isn’t needed and only really adds some extra customizability and the fact that you can pay what you want for premium ($2-10 USD) makes it worth it for me. You can browse faster and comments are so much easier to read. The thing that impressed me the most were the simple things like swiping to upvote, save, or reply. Having the upvote button on the right, being able to save GIFs, having volume in the top left (I know it’s coming in iOS 13 but it’s still neat) and the fact that these features are free makes the app perfect. Personally I don’t post a lot but to me, it seems that the developers spent a lot of time making sure posting was much more intuitive because of the tools the app includes. (almost as good as many pc editing softwares). In addition I experienced faster load times for images and video(GIFs were lacking a little) but in general the app was way smoother and cleaner than the regular app. I really love the app and I don’t think I can go back. The only thing I would change is to add the scheduled light and dark mode to the free version because this feature is included in the original Reddit app.
  • Pay to use a basic function of Reddit

I understand locking certain cosmetic changes behind a paywall, but posting is a basic function of Reddit and I don’t want to pay just to use it
  • The answer to all your reddit needs

Best reddit app ever made. Responsive dev. Major part of the reddit community don’t know what we would do without him.
  • Better than Official App

    By Lamp Love Lava
In my opinion the user interface and features of this app outshine the official reddit app.
  • Honestly don’t see what the fuss is about.

Everyone says to download this app for Reddit, and after trying it I don’t see anywhere where it has an advantage over the standard app. The visual language is cluttered, there’s little differentiation between headlines and content. I accidentally swipe and do actions because there’s no visual language to learn swiping does things, subscribing to subs is hidden behind a hamburger menu, and you need to tip to post. I appreciate what this developer is trying to do, and I’m sure it works for some people, but boy does it feel not worth the hype.
  • Issues with saving gifs, videos and pictures and lots of crashes

    By Kkitty113
Can’t save or share around 80% of gifs, videos, or pictures. I would just share the post, but I have several individuals that don’t use Reddit or when they do click the link I share, it doesn’t work and doesn’t direct them to Reddit at all. Additionally, the app can crash as often as every 15 minutes and has serious issues with going from portrait to landscape mode randomly and wildly, even if I have orientation lock on. While browsing, if I switch to another app (such as photos to see if the content I’ve tried to save six times really did save), Apollo completely resets and I’m back to scrolling away to figure out where I left off. I’ve also noticed that my home feed almost never refreshes and I’ll see the exact same line up for days. Switching to all, I find several of my subreddits included in my home section with new and highly rated posts that never show up in home. I’d love to move on from the free version to donating regularly, but at this point I have to have both Apollo and official Reddit app in order to access all the Apollo free features. I very much enjoy no ads, which I think is one of the only reasons I haven’t given up on Apollo yet. I appreciate all of the hard work you put into this, Christian, I really do. Thank you.
