  • Great concept, poor execution

    This is a great idea, but 2/3 movies I watched had incorrect timing of silencing and skips. For example, it would skip a totally appropriate part that happened right after the inappropriate part that was filtered out. So it showed the part that was supposed to be filtered, and skipped a totally fine part right after. This happened multiple times in both movies that had issues. Like 20+ times. There were also several instances where it just skipped a normal part with no explanation. Makes no sense. I can’t trust this service to actual block out parts that my son can’t see. So I’m canceling. Please make your service work as expected. It’s a great idea and would be incredible if it actually worked.

    Vidangel was always good but recently the show disconnects from the chromecast. There needs tweaking. Never had an issue till recently.

    I got to see rated r movies without having to hear or see anything inappropriate or hear anything bad i dont want to this truly is a great app tho sometimes its glitchy but its usually fine:)
  • Frustration and waste of money

    I attempted twice over the last 6 months to use VidAngel. It will not pair per instructions and cannot load app on my TV either. I have to keep it for another 29 days (UGH!!) but we will just NOT watch the movie. Lets face it if there's garbage langauage and other trash in the movie, should my family be watching it anyway?? Too many other positive movie options out there.

    I hate to give anything but a five star review here. So much about this company deserves five stars - the very idea, the selection of movies, the social media posts, etc. Please, please keep improving. You’re doing awesome! However, the app itself has alot frustrations. I understand it might also be because the streaming platforms don’t make it easy on them. But the app doesn’t remember where you are in as you watch the movie. As soon as the device screen goes dark, you have to reopen app, find the movie again, reconnect to chromecast, wait for it to connect, all to just pause the movie if your kids walk in and ask a question. If the electricity goes, or it disconnects for whatever reason, it doesn’t remember where you are and you have to do all previous and then figure that out. If you need close captions, which we use on all other apps because ADHD, they are SO DELAYED to the actual audio, like 2-3 minutes by half way through the movie, it’s just pointless. So, I’ll never cancel if I can help it. I want to support the project. But please keep working on app support. Such a great idea and so very frustrating to use. Keep working. You can do it!

    We like everything about this app so far. However, there are at least two things that need to change. 1) the age rating. VidAngel is categorized as 4+, but it needs to be higher. Our apps on the AppleTV are locked down because of our small children, except for kids apps AND this one now. This is NOT a four year old app. Please change the age rating to what it should be verses something a four year old can access. 2) being able to change filters in the app. My preference would be to change filters on my account online rather than directly in the app. If parents are wanting to block content from kids, they’d still be able to change filters in the app before they start watching the show or movie.
  • Don’t get your hopes up

    I was so exited when I heard about this app. There is so much filth on movies today, you can’t hardly watch anything with your family anymore. I downloaded the app and followed all the steps and when it come time to pair my phone to the tv the movie would start and freeze just about every few seconds. We didn’t even get through a half hour of the movie and had to refresh it. I was hoping this would make the freezing go away, but it made it worse … now it’s freezing and continued to play the voices while the screen was still froze. It’s not worth it in my opinion to pay per month, and you can’t even get one movie to play the first day you try it. To the makers of vid Angel - if you could get this to work the right way, you’d make a lot of Christian families in the world very happy, just to be able to help guard the eyes and ears of their children😊 I would love to come back when reviews get better, but right now I’d have to agree with the rest of the people here…it’s not worth the hassle, time or money 😒

    So many constant issues. CC doesn’t work, or is behind, or just stops working in the middle of an episode. Casting reliability is bad. Episode verification gives errors. It has trouble doing something as basic as marking where you left off to continue watching. I suppose if they don’t have competition they don’t have to care; not sure why they’re taking people’s money though. I’ll limit my money taken to one month. I do enough cursing dealing with this app, who cares about filtering?
  • Too glitchy

    Doesn’t work half the time on IOS. I spend half my time closing out the app, then going back in to restart, and don’t bump your device or you’ll be back in the endless loop. I tried all the suggestions that were given to me by support- no luck.
