My wife and I have traveled to the Big Island multiple times. We found this app on our most recent trip. We enjoyed the commentary and tips. We highly recommend this app.

This app is an informative and fun way to explore the Big Island for adults and children. We really enjoyed the added culture, history, and practical information provided. This is a nifty use of GPS that starts narration as you drive to points of interest. We felt we were on a big bus tour with an expert guide without the big bus hassles and expense. Excellent 5 Star app.

Andrew is a great tour guide! His dry wit keeps you listening and he truly has explored all the nooks and crannies of the island. There is nothing that was untouched. He has so much information in the guide that it is overwhelming at first. But relax, sit back, and let his dulcet tones guide you. He’s the sort of guide that you wish you could hang out with and go exploring with.

This guide has a perfect balance of historical, anecdotal and sight seeing information. The narration is so on point that now I think we are friends. Andy is my boss ;)

We love the app. The on-the-spot audio makes it feels like we have a personal guide on the drive. Really appreciated the great information about the island. However, sometimes the audio would appeared to be playing but no sound would come out of it, or just cut off in the middle of the narration. This usually happened where cell phone signal was low or not available. There is no option to download all recording ahead of time, which may make this app even more useful.

A very well done travel guide. Good sense of humor mixed with accurate information. Brilliantly setup and played, full interesting facts. Absolute must for a trip to the big island. Brilliant

Yes….we have listened to this tour many many times ! Started by listening to it at home prior to departure & then whenever we had new family members or guests driving in the car with us…even the grandkids (7 & 4) wanted it started back up when we returned to the car—after the recommendations at a specific mile marker. Thank you for creating this for all of us. Have you done ones for the other islands ? The Ancient Navigation Stones (still a mystery as to who & when these accurate long sea site markers were created). Get this App & listen & learn.

I discovered Andrew Doughty’s Revealed books in 2000 when a friend loaned me her copy for Kauai. 23 years and many islands later, I can confidently say these guidebooks are the best and will spoil the reader with their level of detail, information, and tips that enrich a visitor’s experience. This year, I purchased the current edition of The Big Island Revealed and read the brief mention of the app. Knowing the huge difference the books have made during my trips to Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island over the years, I knew the app would be worth it. Sure enough! The app was like having an informed travel guide in the car with us. Andy’s commentary was not only helpful with navigation as we drove over 900 miles exploring, but entertaining, as well! We even laughed out loud and chuckled a number of times. The app does not replace the book, but is an excellent addition, especially as it frees up the navigator from having his/her nose in the book (missing breathtaking scenery) as Andrew calls out the turns and describes highlights, destinations, history, and fun facts. Note that the app doesn’t replace using a driving direction app, as it doesn’t berate you with every little detail, but it does call out highlights along the way. You can also choose “browsing mode” and listen without being in the actual location (e.g., to preview). Highly recommended and many thanks to Andrew and his team for all the countless hours and hard work to make such outstanding travel guides!!! Please write some for Molokai and Lanai, too? 😉🙏🏻

These driving tours are great! I remember some of these spots from 2009 when I last visited the Big Island.

My wife and I have been using the “Revealed” books for our trips to Hawaii for years. We usually buy the most current edition each time we go, just to make sure that we’ve got the latest and greatest info. We found out about the app through the newest edition of the Big Island book and decided to give it a try. The app has been great to listen to as we drive throughout the island and we visited a few areas that we probably would not have known about otherwise. We enjoyed Andrew’s sense of humor along the way as well! The app is very useful without the book, but having both on hand is my recommendation if you want to be aware of all there is to see and do on the island.
