Sluggish after the latest update on iPad Air. Sometimes page will remain light for a few seconds before entering in dark mode.

I have been using Noir for well over a year and like it a lot. It works most of the time with the occasional website that does not darken. The problem with it is since day one when using pinch and zoom the page crashes. This issue persists despite clearing the cache and even reinstalling the phone fresh which tells me it’s a bug.

The latest iOS update (26.6) has broken some of the functionality of Noir. It used to turn pages dark as soon as they loaded, now it takes about 5 seconds for a page to turn dark. I don’t think it is the fault of Noir, but rather the priority of page loading changed with the new update. If you are someone who values Dark Mode at all times, you may want to wait and see if Noir is able to fix this issue. EDIT: really hoping Apple fixes Safari in iOS 27 so that extensions like Noir load first again.

I, like millions of people, suffer from visual snow syndrome. I couldn't even glance at the Internet before this app. (Why is everything so... white?! Because paper is?? That's a dumb reason!) It truly has changed my life. Plus the web looks objectively better in dark mode. Thank you so much!

This extension makes me actually like to use safari. I will never understand why most websites default to bright colors, but now I don’t have to worry about that 🙂

Update: still 5 stars but for some reason I can’t find a way to report sites with issues anymore, I’ve searched everywhere for a reporting button I was using one for years that worked pretty well but the dev did minimal updates and it started having a ton of issues.. been using Noir for many months now and it seems much better so far and you can tell the developer takes pride in their work, happy to see frequent improvements over time that add useful features and fix bugs. Most importantly the dark theme it generates for websites look excellent and nearly native, without big slowdowns and crashes that I’ve experienced with others. The only minor issue has been that it falsely detects native dark modes sometimes, but I see a reporting tool has been added and it’s easy to override this as well. Lastly I’ll mention the interface is attractive and simple within safari and has some advanced features I’ll definitely make use of, great work! Highly recommended.
