The miles are worth next to nothing but if you want to buy them be prepared to spend way more than they’re worth. Once you’ve booked a flight, there’s no way to upgrade seat or anything with miles. You have to do that at the beginning, though it’s still a difficult process with no way to apply miles as partial payments. This app it’s self is poorly designed as well. It’s mostly a way to forward you to a web page where you’ll have to login and navigate page after page of looking for anyway to spend miles. Southwest provides a very similar level of comfort and convenience without this extreme difficulty to use miles. On southwests miles program customers can partially pay for flights, get boarding upgrades, and more, right in the app. Not a link to a web page with over complicated charts describing how if you fly into a “premium economy” your points will be worth even less. I regret ever spending on my AArewards card and I won’t be flying American unless it’s an American specific route, like this time.

It is very difficult to find the invoices for flights for expense reporting.

For whatever reason my app is now blocked but yet I can go into a computer and open it American Airlines seems to think they can't help me and I'm very discouraged. Hope other people have better experiences with the American Airlines app

Can’t login. Can’t reset password. “Our system is having trouble. The name and account number you entered don’t match. Please try again.” No other solution offered.

App is completely unhelpful. Customer support is trash. If you want to get what you pay for, do not choose American Airlines.

Can’t book a flight because the app won’t let me click the pulldown box for type of phone number

App needs update to show which baggage carousel your luggage will arrive.

Literally cannot move forward with my flight booking because the dropdown for the phone number area code doesn’t work…what an embarrassing oversight from AA.

Horrible service no real help available The Palm Springs location cancelled our trip to spite us being there an hour before the trip. Robyn at the desk had no idea how to rebook and we ended up having to stay in Chicago overnight. I took some lovely videos of the rats crawling in and out of the seats all night and someone stole my laptop. Getting help from the Airport or from American Airlines has been impossible. We won’t be flying with them again and certainly not staying in Chicago Airport for more than a few minutes if we can help it.
