An Old Friend

By Pete Groninger
I have used the HP 12C calculator since it first came out 40 years ago. It was one of the first apps I put on my various home computers, and then on my tablets. I would not be without it. As I said, it is an old friend.
Works but ugly

Functions as a 12C calculator, but has serious UI issues. 1-keys have highlights and appear fuzzy. 2-display characters are too small for the display screen size, 3-overall calculator size is too big, 4-calculator does not remember position on the screen when closed and re-opened. Need it, but hate it. I hope the developers take my comments into consideration.
Serviceable

It's fine. Works good. Nice to have on a laptop but I'm baffled why the calculations take so long, particularly date calculations. I bought a new HP12c calculator for the office and it's extremely fast. This app behaves like it's 1985 and is a little frustrating.
Reasonable Facsimile

It's a reasonable facsimile of the HP12, minus a lot of the advanced stuff, but for people who like RPN it's great.
Nice

I enjoyed using this app. I haven't used this since many years ago in college and it works great, it is easy and I didn't have a learning curve....
Works like HP 12C

...but it needs.a button to close it without having to go to the menu bar
Works just like my HP 12C

I bought the HP 12C when it was introduced and used it exclusively throughout my banking career. I still use it but with apps on my computer and phone find I seldom need the actual calculator. i wouldn't mind copy and paste but this is my most-used app. Once you learn RPN it's hard to go back to anything else.
Just as great as the original HP12

I grew up using HP RPN calculators and I still find it tedious to use a standard calculator. This app is true to the original and feels and fuctions like I would expect.
That being said, since it is an app not a physical calculator, I would love to see the app developer include a running tape feature like you would see on a desktop calculator. It certainly would be convienient to check your input
