  • Sleep Apnea

I used Snore Lab just about every night for over a year while I was using a custom dental device to treat moderate to severe sleep apnea. My in-clinic sleep study showed I had no apnea when I slept on my side, but in my sleep I always turned onto my back. I tried all the tricks to stay on my side and to keep my mouth closed when on my back, but they didn’t work. I didn’t want a CPAP. So I got a custom dental device and monitored my snoring and other correlating factors using this app. I was satisfied with this approach for about a year. The app always gave me very useful feedback and was easy to use. But arthritis in my hips began preventing me from side sleeping, and my gums began aching from the dental device. The Snore Lab app clearly showed the device was becoming less effective in reducing my snoring, and in my case that meant I’d have more apnea. Probably bc I could no longer sleep on my side. And I was tired all the time, just like before my sleep study. I tried a CPAP 6 months ago and actually love it. No apnea! Sleep is now comforting instead of a struggle, I’m more alert, and the SnoreLab app confirms I’m not snoring. So this app was a great tool for me. There was nothing I didn’t like about it. I’m old and a bit tech shy, but I had no problems with it.

For one it's easy to use and it's free which makes it better and you can have music on in the background.

I have been experimenting with this mouth piece with and without and I snore significantly less with it . I'm going to move up to the next size and see what happens .

The problem I have I was testing out the free version to see if I really wanted to use the paid version. I was tracking my snoring to see if what I was doing was reducing my snoring. When I click start on the six day, it tells me that I can only do five days in a row and then I have to skip a day. Unless of course I want upgrade to the paid version. I hadn’t use the app long enough to determine. If it’s the right app for me. I deleted the app I’ve installed another app that will let me use it for longer than five days on a trial

Really helpful for tracking your snoring and things that might impact it. One thing that could be better is the “trends” view will show you scores grouped by some factor, but it makes no attempt to control for correlations between factors. The filter option is a deficient way of mitigating this because it throws out data. Though it’s complex, a full ANOVA or similar multi-factorial model is what’s needed here.
  • Inconsistent

I find that the measurements of your snoring are inconsistent. Orange being the highest followed by yellow then blues. Sometimes what a yellow rating is louder than an orange. And a smaller snore is rated as a yellow and a small snore, almost imperceptible is rated as a yellow.

Interprets too man random sounds as snoring. Identifies the heating unit in my apartment as epic snoring. It’s useful for getting a sense of kind and volume of snoring if you listen to the recordings, but the charting is completely unreliable.
