  • Fast enough

Although it’s repetitive, it’s fast enough early on not to be boring.

Why is the podcast not easily assessable? But do love the app tho.

I’ve only been on this app for about four days, but I’ve learned a lot and I’m getting addicted to it. I’m learning German btw.

First, I got to say that this app is phenomenal and I have learned so much in French. Duolingo has very good methods to keep words and phrases stuck in your brain, and easy ways to practice and learn. I absolutely love this app! I only have one problem/suggestion though: There is not enough items/power-ups to purchase in the shop! I have so many gems I have earned that I don’t find anything interesting to spend them on. The only thing appealing is the test you can take to skip a level of a skill, but I rarely use that. (I’m not saying this is the case for others though, just my own opinion). I do remember that a while back, duolingo used to have costumes you could spend your gems on (or some call them lingots). I think that there should be more power ups, for example, a power-up that when you buy it, it gives you double the XP for a set time (maybe like 5-10 minutes). Also, there could be some more bonus skills added. (If I was to give a suggestion I would say maybe a skill on how to make jokes or puns?)By the way, I really like the new update with the completion leader boards. It makes it more fun that just a regular leaderboard. Ok, so to sum it up, I really really love this app, I just think there should be more options to purchase in the shop with your gems. Thank you for taking time to read this (if you do)!

  • You don’t want me to learn

Once they added the dumb refill heart stuff, it’s been real difficult to practice if you can’t freaking practice. This app is starting to become like every other money grabbing app in here
  • Easy to start, easy to learn

My attention problems make it difficult for me to sit down and learn from studying a book or to watch long language videos online, especially just to START learning. With Duolingo I can conveniently tab over and learn or practice some of my target language, when I’d normally just spend 30 minutes scrolling through social media. The app cycles through several types of exercises to practice encoding and decoding with plenty of stress on active recall, and by using both audio and visual cues. Practicing and reviewing is set up to be a fun competition or casual game that effectively encourage more time spent on the app practicing. The health system can encourage you either to actively review what you’ve learned to continue taking more lessons or to take a necessary break before the health recharges and you can continue. Both options feel helpful for learning and reasonably accommodate whatever your time commitments may be. I can’t speak to the selection of languages offered, but both languages I wanted to practice are available, so this app gets 5⭐️ for an enjoyable and productive learning experience.
