  • Good at a desk, almost great walking

The fights are surprisingly good for a touchscreen game and the crafting gear progression is top tier. You even don’t mind seeing the same handful of monsters because you want more of their pieces to upgrade your gear. However, the fights are even worse for playing while walking than the other Niantic games. There’s a mechanic to save fights from your walks, where monsters you walk past are marked to fight later. Which almost makes it a 10/10 game. But it only works three times a day (five with a subscription). Alas, my dream of going for a nice long walk and sitting down afterwards to fight monsters is quashed. It’s really close, though, even a small fee to permanently bump the number of saved monsters would’ve hooked me.

It’s a fun game in all but there’s bugs that need to stilll be fixed, I’ve been kicked out of the game completely even in mid battle with a monster or collecting items and that can be a bit annoying but other than that I enjoy it

I have been a long time fan of the monster hunter series and have played every game since tri for the Wii. Mh now has the framework and potential to be a great addition to the franchise but is missing some key quality of life components from the main games. 1 the lack of a training room means you’re wasting precious potions if you want to learn a new weapon. 2 not releasing all 14 weapon types at the start would be fine if we still had the ability to rollback a weapon and get the materials refunded because farming for weeks to get an 8* weapon just to never touch it again when a more favorable weapon type is released is pretty frustrating. 3 and this is a big one, some how Niantic found a way to make one of the easiest to craft and cheapest items in the game cost real money making potions and paintballs far more important than they should be. Niantic should atleast give us an “item box” at gathering points similar to how you get pokeballs at pokestops. 4 give us fashion hunters back the ability to change the color of our armor. Overall it’s a good game but i keep finding myself putting it down after 10-15 minutes because I’ve either ran out of monsters in the area or ran out of potions to keep fighting

Really enjoy playing this game but I can only hunt a few monsters before the app crashes.. or there’s a huge delay when selecting things in the menu, until it freezes completely and crashes… please fix this! Again love the game otherwise.
  • Good Grind

Great game, love the loop. Loot is pretty good and the amount of monsters available to fight is always enough. Leveling up feels streamlined and they don’t make you suffer if you’re not into paying for cosmetics or loot. A friend referred me to this game and I’ve been using any down time I have to play it. So far, really loving this MH mobile game, just wish I could dress up my Palico in other clothing lol
  • Getting better!!

Currency prices are still a little high, but they addressed a lot of issues over the past few months. Fresh monsters hourly, more nodes, hunt-a-thons can be done with groups without people in your immediate area. Wyvern gem shards are more accessible. 5 stars if they’d dial back on the currency and/or storage cost.

Another game that uses psychological manipulation to keep you playing. Fear Of Missing Out seasonal incentives. The game, at its core was fun enough. However, I am not whale enough for the game to get suckered by the seasonal goodies locked behind a paywall that requires me to grind after paying for it.

This was an amazing and fun game at first. But Niantic’s greed got the best of them and it went down the trash shoot. You can only get 5 potions a day which is fine until you get to the higher level misters that one shot you. Only way to get more is to pay actual money where $20 only can buy you 6 potions which is not worth it. When you get higher up in the ranks you need certain monsters parts that you could rarely find unless you do hunt-a-ton’s which a level 5 monster needs a level 7 weapon to defeat. Also the game making you grind to get anywhere is atrocious. On top of that sometimes the dual blades special doesn’t hit a flying monster even though you are next to them and you could hit them right before you used it. The monsters even got buffed recently where they attack and then attack again before you could even stand back up which isn’t fair. If you have something with a perk of burst, you can’t stop it to dodge, once you are in it you will get hit. They’re are also many other problem. It once was an amazing game but like Pokémon go, it was ruined to the point I don’t even bother playing it.
