  • A Model macOS Application!

RailModeller Pro is a wonderful design application! Before I found this fantastic tool for my new Mac, I'd used both AutoCAD and SCARM on Windows to design my rail layouts. The developer's thorough attention to detail, design implementation, functional integration, and the beautifully matured GUI truly make this an outstanding application. RailModeller Pro really leverages macOS' capabilities to streamline effective visual/technical design activities thru simplified use of detailed manufacturer-specific libraries in a way that lets me use my old stock alongside newer/available products! I wish my other macOS (and Windows) apps had half the GUI visual-hinting and intuitive functionality this one does. I really appreciate the Search and Tips features as I started using it, and love the Community Layouts feature. This app is a fantastic tool that allows me to quickly/effectively design/revise (and shop for) my ideas based on thorough part libraries tab ensure my design will work as intended! Thank you for a great app at a great price - I'm really enjoying using it!

Great program. wonderful video tutorials! The program/app is very intuitive and follows many of the basic commands of the Apple system, control C equals copy, control, V equals paste, etc. etc. I am loving working with this to develop my new G-scale garden railway

With limited space its difficult to visualize different options w/out software. This lets you play around with options until you nail down your concept.

Not well supported with instructions. A lot of trial and error is required but it does work. It may better suit the experienced hobbyist but difficult for a beginner to master.

RailModler pro has been a blessing for me in desiging a garden railroad. It's easy to use and the results help me go from paper to garden with ease. What I would love is a featrue where once the design is complete, I could run an AI train around the course. Running two or three simulated engins would help me know if there are any flaws to my theoretical layout. Still great stuff and I will continue to suppor this program

Best track design software I have ever used!
  • Excellent number of libraries

Update 1/28/24 The app has a recurring bug that makes it impossible to move an element after it's been placed and loses its focus (clicking somewhere else). Clicking on the elemnent again only allows moving with arrow keystrokes, but the mouse can no longer move it.

I tried several apps for designing model rail layout, for Windows, Linux, and this one for Mac. RailModeller Pro is way ahead of the competition. It's better polished and much easier to learn and use. Since a recent macOS upgrade a minor issue cropped up with the visual rendering of part labels on track, but the developer has been very responsive, and it's easy to toggle that feature. Also, the labels look fine when I export the layout as an image. No software is perfect. This deserves 5 stars.

NEEDS AFX/Tomy track updates, some pieces are still not available to use, need to improvise. Many free slot car apps are so-so, this is better but finding all the features is tought, hopefully after more trial & error time i'll get the hang of it. Using it for trains is probably much better, but...

This program works great and has an extensive library of different elements you can use. Two things I would like to see added would be one: simple train images so you tell how much track a potential train would take up. Two: The ability to draw a vehicle road that way you can better plan crossings and where vehicle traffic would be.
