    This game functions as an incredibly powerful Japanese language learning tool. It packs beginner friendly vocabulary and grammar lessons into a completely immersive gaming experience. I’ve tried learning Japanese on and off for the past few years, and no app I’ve come across has hooked me in as much as Wagotabi! The fact that it even teaches hiragana and katakana (plus the stroke order!) makes it that much more suitable for complete beginners. If you want a fun way to learn Japanese with no pressure, give this game a try!

  • Great App, Best way to learn Japanese by far

    When I started this app I had tried learning Japanese on my own, but struggled really hard to learn any grammar as I had no one to practice with. This app fixed that for me completely. Now instead of feeling like I’m just learning so many words and not knowing how to use them. I’m having full conversations with the people in game. I’m listening to their conversations and understanding them! Over the app does a great job at being very educational, using context to learn, but also extremely fun as well. Sometimes I want to just keep playing because I’m having so much fun but I have to force myself to stop so that I can actually soak in what I learned. Overall best 5$ I ever spent trying to learn Japanese. They even have a free demo in case you don’t wanna commit to spending 5$ upfront. This game is everything you could ever ask for 10/10.

    I’ve tried many gamified learning apps over the years and they all fall short. Most seem to optimize for the wrong things, leading to a poor learning experience. This game found the rare intersection between a fun game and a legitimate teaching program. I can tell that the developers have taken their time and not compromised when developing this game. It is really well done and has been a great aid in my Japanese learning. Of course, no app alone will teach you a language, but Wagotabi does a more comprehensive job than anything else I’ve seen. All of that for less than a month of any other premium language app out there. Definitely give it a chance if you’re learning Japanese!

    I learned hiragana and katakana before starting this game, and have been quickly learning new vocabulary and grammar using Wagotabi. There are a variety of ways to review what you are learning in the app, and it’s a really fun way to learn by playing the game. I absolutely love how English is phased out as you progress. I haven’t found anything else that accomplishes that so seamlessly. Highly recommend if you want to learn Japanese!

    Wow, this app is amazing. At first, I thought it was going to be a Duolingo clone, but I was pleasantly surprised. I feel actually immersed in Japanese, and that is the greatest thing about this app. I would love to see this game grow so that it can include even more Japanese. You won’t regret supporting this app!

    I loved this game! The mini games are also really fun and helpful in practicing my vocabulary, kanji, and alphabet. I’ve put 20+ hours into this game already. I have no complaints except that I can’t wait for the next big update. I feel like I learned so much with this game.

    This is by far the best japanese language learning app I have ever used. Its fun, addicting, and I’ve learned so much faster and retained so much more, including kanji and vocabulary. Im reading so much faster its incredible. A hard 5 stars
