After months of dealing with Google News feeding me Fox News headlines after blocking dozens of sites over the years, they FINALLY seemed to have gotten a handle on respecting my settings. But now every time I scroll the feed, there are horribly compressed pixilated images on stories, sometimes so bad they are unrecognizable. Some articles have attached images that have nothing whatsoever to do with the article, repeated over and over for other articles so that my feed is populated with the same image on entirely different unrelated articles. If this is Google's AI doing the image/article matching and compression, it's past time to consign it to the trash heap. I'm currently searching for a different news aggregator that isn't so laughably unprofessional and childish.

For every one thing Google News does well, it does two other things poorly. What is the point of letting me indicate what kinds of stories and topics o want more or less of if the app is just going to ignore that stated preference? Every single story or topic I have flagged to see less of continues to appear on my news feed day after day, often taking up a huge amount of space on screen. I can mark a story or topic and all of its related articles to be filtered out and they’ll all show up tomorrow like I never said stop.

As the title says the pop ups and half the articles are unreadable bc you have to pay for a subscription is out of control!! I’m ready to boot you Google News!! The pop ups are so bad that I can’t read tje article amd there’s no way to turn them off. Poor showing gor the users, great for revenue. Hreed wins.

This is something that has gotten progressively worse over the past few months. Click on a story and it’s covered in ads everywhere. I understand needing ads to pay the bills, but it’s so bad now. When I open the same story in my phone browser, there are significantly less ads. I don’t think it’s Google injecting the ads into the stories, although I guess they could be. I assume it’s the news source itself treating Google News traffic differently? Either way, it’s better to use the browser as the browser version is easier to read without flashy ad overlays pinned to the top, bottom, and sometimes side of the article. Deleted this app from my phone.

I like that the content is correct, I hate that my content chronologically is way off - by weeks, months and even a year very often. So basically I the user needs to scroll old news to find a small date text to see anything new. I feel Google is just super lazy here, they made an application and stopped inventing / improving it since.

Look at what you give them access to just so you can see the news. It’s more of a data mining app then it is a News app …

Ads, ads, ads, ads…. Can barely read article w/out excessive ads, pop ups and video ads destroying the reading experience. Deleted app
